Starter Problem Help appreciated

Post by andyyyy »

Hey everyone, i just finished replacing my transmission in my 92 Legacy Wagon and something went wrong with the starter. When I turn the key to start it, the starter just makes a buzzing noise but doesn't click or start up the car, just a soft buzzing. Im wondering if this is a wiring mistake or something worse. If anyone has any insight on the problem, help would be appreciated. Thanks.

From your other post....this is on the automatic trans correct?

Did you try turning over the transmission by hand before installing it to make sure it spun freely? Once you mated the trans & engine, I'm assuming you rotated the flex plate & engine to put in the bolts connecting the flex plate & torque converter. Did everything spin freely when you did this?

I would just verify that the starter isn't hung up and the engine spins freely. The buzzing kind of indicates to me that it is getting power, but is "stuck".
