So ill introduce myself first. my Name is Dilan I live in the pacific northwest (Seattle) And have finally acquired My first Subie. its an NA BF and so far I love her. I can't find any where to get "aftermarket" or without sounding like a "JDM fan boy" any Japanese parts to make her one of a kind..
However one thing I have been interested in is taking the scooped hood, turbo bumper and a lesser hideous grille and putting it on my NA BF for some sex appeal. I have searched on here and Google for days and have not came up with very much info for the first gens (which i'm used to with my datsun 280z) and most parts have to be custom built. But i suppose my question would be where can i find a plethora of cool parts if any? and will the turbo bumper cover and hood just slip right on or will the bumper need brackets and all that jazz as-well.
Thanks in advance for your times and glad to have found this forum.
Within the first gen legacies (90-94) there are the pre face lift models (90-91) and the post face lift models (92-94). For body parts, as long as you stay within your post face lift model year range, they should work fine.
Unfortunately, you're probably not going to find a store or online shop that is going to list parts for these cars. As you've discovered a lot of the parts are either tweaked to fit or custom made. There are some stuff from the newer subies, primarily mechanical that will work. Wheels are also usually interchangable with the newer cars, but anything like spoilers, lips, etc usually have to be custom fit. You may be able to find some direct fit body parts on the overseas auction sites, but they typically are very expensive.
As far as resources go, this site is your best spot to find out anything related for the first gen legacy.
Honestly, with this generation of legacys, you can pretty much always find at least one at a pick and pull or something like that. I guess this only applies to the grille, but go out and get a grille from a pick and pull for like 20 or 30 bucks and shape it the way you want it. At worst you're out the 30 bucks, but you had fun in the process making the new grille.
