mpgs??

Post by ugaucin »

So i was doing the math and I found out my ej22t wagon does about 13 miles per gallon. Its seems to be pretty bad a Daily driver. Is my mpg the average for the 22ts? If not what might be wrong with my mine. I'm use to getting 20+ on my N/A sedan so a 22t is burning a hole in my wallet.

My SS got consistent 24mpg's when it was running correctly. That's about 75% highway driving.

How are you calculating mpg's?

The way Im calculating my mpgs is my daily miles driven divided by how many gallons I have put in. So I put 6 gallons and drove 80 miles . So 80/6=13 .33

What about the basics?
Tune-up, tire pressure, etc?

Is your 4EAT working properly, what RPM @ 60 MPH is it? Is the TC locking up?

Tune done. Its due for a oil change soon that's it. Ill check tomoorow. I believe it are 2800 rpm @ 60mph. Lol you guys caught me. Maybe that's the reason I'm getting bad mpgs. I go into boost like every corner. So much fun with a tleggy

Uh, you need an 'accelerator' adjustment. :-)

2800 sounds about right.....

Drive one tank....or even 1/2 of one tank .....w/out going into boost and see what happens.

THEN, let's chat....

Even getting into boost a lot that seems low to me. I'm rob tuned with 550s, td05 and manual but I still get 23mpg and if I somehow manage to rice around through a whole tank I still get 19mpg.

My TW (pre-swap, also the worst MPG variant of these cars) got 17MPG around town redlinig it from almost every stop light. 19 of I treated it nicely. I got 11ish during a day of autocross, so I don't think its possible to beat 13 out of it in traffic. You definitely have an issue going on, or an issue with how its being measured (sometimes pump shutoff is inconsistent, for example).

If you beat on these cars and go crazy with boost, their mileage can be very bad.

13 really sounds low. You have to get consistent fills in order to figure your mileage accurately. Fill your tank and set your trip meter. Next time you fill your tank you will have the amount of gas and how many miles were traveled. I do it every time I fill up and you do need to fill it up every time to get an accurate figure. There is no way to get accurate mileage figures without filling the tank.
