Wagon Headliner Removal...

Post by eastbaysubaru »

Just curious who's removed the headliner from a wagon. I need to do it soon to remedy my leaky sunroof, so I'm looking for a little direction. I'll document it with pictures when I actually get around to doing it. So, does anyone have any suggestions on where to start and/or what's involved with removing it?

Do a search for leaky sunroofs...it's the gunk under the rails and not something that removing the headliner would fix...unless you plan on removing the entire sunroof unit itself.

Dave, I know there's some info in the leaky sunroof thread. I'm just trying to create another thread that has the relevant info on removing the headliner. It seems the best way to fix the leak is to reseal the rails, or "gunk", and clear the drain tubes. It seems the only way to clear the tubes is to remove the headliner. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Mine leaks like crazy, but i took down the headliner (which i regret) and none of the tubes were leaking. If re-sealing doesn't work, then taking down the headliner to clear the tubes is the next step.

After looking over the other thread, I'm regretting starting another. It's explained really well in the other thread, so this one can be deleted or removed, or whatever. I'm going to try resealing before getting too crazy and removing the entire headliner.
