what does the 1/8" fitting on throttle body do? vacuum?

Post by 91Beater »

There is a small 1/8" right angle nipple which connects to some kind of solenoid device. Right on the top of throttle body next to throttle position sensor. It hooks up to a tiny rubber line the size of windshield washer fluid line and it's obviously pneumatic / vacuum control of some sort but when you pull this line, there is no suction felt on either side when I disconnect it at idle like all the other vacuum lines.

What is this for?

I am not sure if there's supposed to be suction on it. Can someone check for me please?
I have the normally aspirated EJ22.

I think that is the purge solenoid....it works with the fuel vapors and the charcoal canister setup. You should feel suction on the elbow nipple at the TB....i suck water up in there when steam cleaning my internals...lol.

That nipple is positioned so that wih the throttle closed theres no vacuum. If you open the throttle a little, there should be plenty of vacuum.

Yup, part of the canister purge system.

This diagram shows everything in detail.
