Re: no spark
1992 legacy gl im getting power on both wires going to the distributor when ignition is turned on ,is that the correct fountion of the wres .
Re: no spark
Dose the car have points or electronic pick up coil? I'm assuming it has electronic ignition, therefore it should have a control module that is the brain box that controls the spark. I would look in to that, but I'm guessing.
I'm also assuming that your over seas, because in the US not many legacy's here had the 1.8L engine.

Re: no spark
It has an electric bottle coil the old school type im in barbados
Re: no spark
Yes, I understand your coil has one wire going to the cap.
The two wires coming out of the distributor should connect to pick up coil inside the distributor that gives a signal. If you unplug the two wires that your getting power and put an ohm meter on it and spin the engine to see if your getting a signal. If so the pickup coil is good, I believe there should be a control module taking that signal and going back to your coil.
But if you have points in side your distributor then you should have one wire coming out of your distributor and that would go to the - neg side if the coil.

Re: no spark
Welcome to the BBS.
You can download the Subaru factory service manual. It's for the overseas 92 Legacy and section 2 is the engine section. That section has information on the carbureted engines. Also, section 6 is the electrical and has information on the distributor and coil.

Like Charles suggested, I would verify that the pick up is working and telling the coil to fire.
