I just spent a bunch of money at harbor freight to do wheel bearings. Still ended up taking the knuckles to a machine shop because the stupid bearing races would not come out. I'm going to buy one more bearing puller kit I found afterwards and then I give up.

FYI: I guess the trick is to weld a bead around the inside of the race which shrinks the race and it comes right out. But I have no welder. :(

I just wanna stress how overwhelming this is....

Im making some progress today. I feel like i am taking 10 feet of wiring and stuffing it in a 5 foot section.

Stupid 10 year difference in year make and model...

Josh, it's a pretty big mess. There is alot of wires. I may have to take a foot or so out above the transmission tunnel just to get the heater core to fit.

I'll have to do that 1 wire at a time if i go that route...

Its scaring me just watching you do it. I'm dreading adding some wires for this boost controller and coil on plugs.

You dont have to add wires for that boost controller. You should have everything you need.

So I was wrong.

I didn't physically pull the WRX harness out of the car, so I didn't know what went where. Well I reached out to NWIC on Facebook and a buddy whom I had met previously responded. I didn't want to cut anything or do any modifications to the harness without physically seeing another car. He had been Medically discharged from the military and has nothing but time currently. So I bought a 6 pack and he came over and we b.s'd while i looked at his 05 and labeled my plugs that go to the engine bay from the firewall.

Thanks A Lot!

After he left I got to painting the bay.

ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Few nights before I stripped, cleaned, and painted my intake manifold. I have a bunch of other stuff that I would like to paint as well.

ImageImageImageImageImageImage

I still have to get my 22t block timecerted on that bad head bolt holt. I was quoted 100-150 tops. Not bad.

I have a ton of parts that need to be hot tanked, which I have someone who is willing to do that for free in their spare time.

Image

And too much Interior pieces....

Image

Now that the engine bay is painted and I have a pretty good idea where stuff goes, I can pull the wiring back into the bay and start securing the loom. I'm doing an ABS delete as well, Unfortunately I am using a 1' bore MC, I have not been able to locate an SVX MC. :/

I have to look thru my diagrams to figure out which brake line goes where today.

It's Fathers day today, so all you Dads out there, Enjoy the day and do something you want. My little one is gonna be in the garage helping out. Every weekend he's over, he asks if he can put his gloves I bought him on and work on my car. Kids are awesome!

What heads are those? Oh and if you get anytime maybe I'll bring the car up and you can paint it haha. Jealous of the nice body on that car. Something I have yet to do as I have a lot of work that needs to be done.

And your thoughts? Since I have an Tsuedo 3'' DP I have thought about getting some headers as well for the 2L. Clean it up a bit under the motor.

Buddy came over last night and dropped off some parts. Nothing I'm going to use in this car but some stuff worth having around. head lights, tail lights and misc stuff.

With the help of some brews and a sledge, we were able to get the hvac in it's general location. You have to pound on the transmission tunnel to get it to go where it needs to be. Still some work to do tho. I need to pull some measurements off the dash so I know it'll all line up. I done want any gaps where the hvac meets the dash.

In order to do the work mentioned above, I had to remove the harness again. It's been in and out several times.

Image

Then upon looking for parts this morning I found this!

Image

COMPLETE 05 STI Fuel tank with pumps and evap! Now i need to find me some 15gal tank straps!

So I think I got my answer for my swap Josh :-)

I have a small update, but big progress.

Dash is almost ready for brackets to be made. I got it to sit where it would work well with the heater core box. I'm a little unhappy with how the dash meets the windshield, but i can't lower the heater core assembly any more. So It is what it is. After taking a couple days away from it and then just sitting in the back seat of the car and enjoying a beer It came to me that I could make it work in a specific way. Hand saw and a heat gun later, I got it to sit as good as I can.

Now that it is in place, I can make some brackets and actually mount the dash, figure out the dash support bar issue, which i wont have much of one, mount everything, finish the wiring for the rest of the car, figure out the gas tank deal, key it up and make sure everything works.

then the motor stuff begins.

Pics....
