Changing your clutch in 4 hours

I've changed my clutch or components in under 4 hours before with out pulling the transmission, here's how.

First pull the radiator (you need the space)
Exhaust (front pipe)
Starter
Accelerator cable and cruse cable if equipped
Hill holder cable
Fuel line to the filter
Disconnect wires for crank, cam, and knock sensors
Trans mount to the fire wall
Remove bolts and nuts holding engine and transmission together
Jack up transmission slightly and with engine hoist pull engine forward

Clutch is out and yes a bad pilot bearing.

This is where I place my screw driver in the block to hold the engine from rotating so you can remove and toque bolts down.

PP looks good, not bad for 30k.

Flywheel looks good, but I'm putting my spare on.

New Subaru bearing with part#, it's the same as the exedy one.

It always a good idea to clean all bolts and holes so you can get the proper toque on all the bolts.

All ready to put it all back together.

I reversed my order and lubed the contact points on the clutch release bearing and replaced my clutch lever.

I always use locktite on the flywheel and PP bolts. (I have trust issues)

There's plenty of room to get a toque wrench in there. Flywheel bolts at 55# and PP bolts at 144inch#.

When I had it apart I also noticed that I lost my set screws that held my sleeve on, part of my tranquil kit and had to go to lowes to buy some. (They were not loctited)

How do you like the tranquil kit and did you notice a difference between before & after?

The clutch pedal is a lot smoother and the clutch use to catch a little before from the ridges in the case, I would recommend it. But the bad thing you will need a over sized throw out bearing when you need to replace it next. I don't think they make one unless you buy another kit or have one machined large enough to go over the sleeve.
