Dude! Your stoked!

I would think 180whp is a reasonable goal :D

Good luck, and happy tuning.

180kw does not equal 180hp. I dunno of the conversion factor, but it ends up being more than 180hp (especially since he expects to run mid-12s).

rsstiboy: Awesome! By the time you have yours tuned maybe I can ask questions to get mine running great.

With 240 wheel, how much crank would that be?

It's close to 300, since Yukon said that his dinoed STI was around 260 wheel hp. That is if I remember correctly.

All depends on what dyno is used and its configuration at the time.

some of my friends think that it will be closer to 200kw @wheels which would be capable of a low 12 high 11, i'm not so confident. 147kw=200HP so i'm guessing about 270HP at the wheels is what they expect.

The only reason I ask is because drivetrain configuration and dyno type change the HP drastically. Its alot easier for everyone to compare theoretical CRANK Hp numbers.

I think Ill be in the mid to high 300's crank.

You can generally guess hp roughly from turbo specs.

Not really, who knows what other hardware the person has. He could be using the stock computer with an S-AFC and stock injectors for all we know.

I plan to keep my car automatic and with smaller than stock diameter tires so that will also change what the dyno shows.

Of course you can.

Assuming the car has been modified wtih a good tune which can make the most of all the hardware, you limit will be the turbo.

This does come down to tuning though, which is the key ingredient I feel.

I've always gone for an aftermarket computer or chip (real time dyno tuned) as one of my first mods. I believe in very fine tuning to get power, with a safety margin put in place (you know how close you are to the edge)

car manufacturers use crank horsepower because its very difficult to prove them wrong, they can always fudge the figures a bit, thats why I always use power at the wheels, after all thats what spin the rollers, not the crank. and its far more accurate.

I think your right. Its also funny that car makers will spec 250 at xrpm yet they make no mention of it being the PEAK HP. So the STI is 300 300 yet its peak may actually be 330 310.

You are going to get a base tune and then adjust on your own or have them tune the crap out of it for you?

That's actually 255.6 HP, darling. ;)

If it dynoed at only 155.6 I would have taken the car back to Carter and thrown the keys at the sales manager by now. :P
