93 Turbo AT Sedan Code 52 Not boosting or reving right

Post by kahunaking »

I have a 93 Turbo sedan with the 4EAT. It wont let me rev past 3500 or so and as soon as it feels like the turbo is spooling up it looses power and if you give it more gas it seems to cut out.

It originally had a knock sensor code and I have since replaced that and the code as not returned but now I have code 52. I dont know if that code would cause it to not run right but it idles and cruises just fine at low throttle conditions and will even accelerate up to 80mph or so if you are light on the throttle but as soon as you give it more it actually slows down. Any help would be appreciated, Ive had many turbo subaru's but this is my first US Legacy ej22t car and its not wanting to cooperate very well.

I have an update. I found the boost leak, the previous owner used regular hose between the brake booster and IM so I replaced that with a wrx unit with the check valve.

Now I am still having problems with the car running right as I Now have codes 12, 51, and 52.

Hi

codes for reference:
12 starter switch Abnormal signal emitted from starter switch >Fail-safe: Turns starter signal switch OFF
51 Inhibitor switch Abnormal signal entered from inhibitor switch
52 Parking switch Abnormal signal entered from parking switch

Are you getting the 16 flashes of the POWER light on the dash on start up?

If you do, they also have TCU/trans codes that can be read.

I would recommend running the d-check mode with only the green diagnostic connectors and see what comes up.

I suspect you might have other vacuum issues or other leaks in your hoses
Start my checking all the connections to make sure they are sealing good.
The lazy way is to use vaseline on all the ends of the hoses. I've seen plenty of hard dried out hoses on subarus much newer than yours
