STi and fuji will rip you off!

Post by greensubie »

I currently have a 95 legacy with what was supposed to be a wrx engine swap. unfortunately for me fuji shipped me the wrong engine and not oly did they charge me for the engine and drivetrain but they charged me for an entire wrecked wrx Sti from japan. STi sucks!(i guess) i do kinda like the engine tho even tho its not the 300hp monster i was supposed to have.

So you're claiming you purchased a drivetrain directly from Fuji Heavy Industries, didn't get the right parts and was charged for a wrecked STI?

I'm lost here...i had no idea that Subaru would sell drivetrains, or wrecked cars...

I think before accusations are made, you may want to iron out your facts. Saying you aren't exactly sure how it all worked out points toward you not asking enough questions. You received the wrong engine, your fault. Live and learn; next time, ask more questions.

Cant argue with ya there...but its too bad that the engine was supposed to be a 2.5l turbo as the recipt said and i got a 2.2l turbo with a bad oil feed....luckily the parentals paid for it all

Wait, you got a 2.2l Turbo?? There is only two of those that I know of. Neither of them came on the....well one came on a "wrx." It was the 22B. The engine is a good one, and I would make the assumption that it is probably better than the 2.5 turbo (the 2.5 turbo from my understanding didn't come on any sti vehicles in any other country other than the US). If I were you I'd give those guys an email or contact them however you did in the first place and ask some questions. If you were wrongly charged you shouldn't just bend over and take it.

I'm confused as to why tou would rip apart the block and change the pistons instead of just fixing the oil problem and turbo.

Well, whichever 2.2 you got, it is a good engine. Turbo's aren't that hard to come by. Did it come with an intercooler?

you ran a turbo without an intercooler? :?

there's your problem. That's among the golden rules of forced induction. NEVER run w/ no intercooler!!!

Ok,
Now I am interested. :!: If this was in fact a 2.2L turbo that came with an intercooler, it does not sound like a plain jane USDM Legacy turbo to me (Laurel- a reminder, our US Legacy Turbos did not come with Intercoolers  ) I am much more interested in seeing those pics from your lap top now. I especially would love to see pics of the turbo part number and any indication of whether this engine was DOHC or SOHC...

But until you get that up for us, tell us about this other engine you are running. High CR pistons? who'd you get them from? Do you have headwork, or are you just running stock heads. Have you had your car dyno'd?

Now this has me asking questions as well. . . .

Who did you buy this engine from? Is a US company? Japanese company? In either case, if you asked for the "2.5L turbo engine from the STi" then there's no way in hell you should have expected it to come from Japan.

Japan gets the 2.0L 270HP engine
Europe gets the 2.0L 270HP engine
Australia gets the 2.0L 270HP engine

ONLY North America gets the 2.5L 300HP engine variant. If you were hoping for this engine, you should have stuck with ONLY North American-based merchants to begin with.

And you ended up with a 2.2L turbocharged engine instead? To my knowledge, no Impreza has ever had that engine. . . I always thought it was a Legacy platform-specific powerplant.

 It is arguably the most desirable Impreza of all times. There has been a lot of debate whether the same closed deck block found in our US legacy turbos was the basis for the build of the engine in the 22B...

Damn. . . learn something new every day. ;)

It's a sweet-ass car. . . I can see why it's such a prized piece. I need to do more snooping for historical data on the Imprezas. . . . wish I just had more time to do it. :?

It's not the same engine. The 22B didn't get the oil squirters our engines got. At least, that is what someone posted about a week ago.
