where can i find a speedometer compensator for my subie i'm off 5 mph
Re: speed adjuster
Buy bigger tires, I'm not sure if there is a way to adjust or change the gear. I found if I changed to 195/70/14 on my wife's and 205/55/16 my speedo is closer.

Re: speed adjuster
I'd concur with the tire size change if you're super-anal. There's online calculators that will tell you how high or low a certain tire size will make it.
But 5mph is within normal error margin anyways, unless you live somewhere like Virginia where tickets for 2mph over are common.

Re: speed adjuster
well depending what gps speedometer app i use its from 2 miles to 5 miles off
Re: speed adjuster
I honestly wouldn't trust run of the mill phone-based GPS to be 100% accurate. The fact that it varies by app kind of confirms its not.

Re: speed adjuster
i read some where that i could put a different speedo gear in but havent found one for subaru yet
Re: speed adjuster
They are common for trucks and muscle cars. Haven't really heard of them for anything else.

Re: speed adjuster
You would need something like one of these adapters.

Re: speed adjuster
would these work on subaru's?
Re: speed adjuster
I don't see why something like this couldn't be made to work.
It might require a little customizing of the cable, but would think it should work.

Re: speed adjuster
so would this go by the trans or behind the dash? and if i get one what should i look for
Re: speed adjuster
This would tie into the speedo cable.
I would personally put it somewhere in the engine bay that is easily accessible. You would need to find a shop that would gear one specifically for you. More than likely they'll want to know how much your speedometer is off. Like I said, you need to talk with the shop that you would be buying one from.

I live in va and know of no place where 2mph tickets are common, but if that's true I would like to know about it...please?
