just to tell you i think all the sti's made had red intake manifolds. i know the version 2 did because my dad's car has one of them in it

or maybe your dad has a similar situation to our freind Morgie...

This is a version II STi-RA that was recently on E-bay. I called the seller and verified the car based on the applied model code and applied engine code that he provided...

its really not there ive tried to check before if it was that easy to find the engine code there wouuldnt be a problem. i doesnt look filed/ground off its just not there

it has to be there. earlier you said everything was really dirty maybe its hiding. standing in front of the car at center bend over and look straight down it is on the right(passenger) side of the block. it is a rectangle about 1/2" by 1".

Actually I recognize that engine and know why you can't find the engine code. That's not a Subaru Flat four engine. Thats the flat six off of a Porsche 959. Thats why the cam cover is red too.

Yeah, the junkyard guys almost tried to pass me one of those stupid Porsche engines over my Leg turbo. Good thing I knew what to look for.

LOL....no way....this guy got a porsche engine from fuji in Japan?? Well assuming that can even happen...are they good engines??? In a way that really sucks, but if it is a good engine, I guess things can't be all THAT bad...right?

Wait a second... The 959 H6 not only fits into a Legacy engine bay, but bolts up to the tranny?? How much HP/TQ? This may be a potent swap

The whole drivetrain bolts up, but don't bother man. Those ubiquitous 959s are weak.

Those cars are so overrated. I beat one in my old '84.

This whole 959 thing's a joke. You're lucky to even see one in this country as someone has only just now certified them for sale. Bill Gates had to fight for years to get one and then I think they only allowed it for show - no road use. I did see one at the Rennsport Reunion at Limerock in 2001, though, with plates on it.

In 2000, at the end of Clinton's term, he passed a law often refered to as the "exotic car law" It allows a vehicle to be licensed without having to pass all the usual requirements, such as crash testing but that the cars had to meet that years emissions requirements from the toughest state, CA, and that they could not be driven more than 1500 miles per year. There are only 6 that have been finished, and the company that does the conversions to get them to pass also did a few performance upgrade to optimize a little more power. Bill Gates has one. As done a guy up in Golden, CO. I saw him down near my work one day and his presence has been noted on the CO rally group.

Dude, that code is right there where Morgie posted, if it's not there then it's not a Subaru engine...

Subarus have had their engine codes in that location for the past 20 years. My XT has "EA82" cast right there in that very spot....

Yeah if you don't see it, it isn't there. They are kinda hard to miss. If you don't see it, then it probably isn't a suby engine.

so, the guy bought an engine from fuji heavy, his mech dropped it in, and its running around the streets, but nobody has at least COMMENTED that it's not a subaru engine, and whats more its a PORSCHE engine?
