Alright guys I have a question about what engine is best to swap into my car. I will be swapping this into a 92 n/a wagon.
First I have a EJ22T that I pulled out of 92 sedan the engine has 200,000 miles on it, but the compression is still really good, I pulled everything else that I would need to do the swap.
or should I buy a EJ20G off EBAY and swap that in.
I was wondering what would be the better option to swap into my car, Im not looking to go crazy with mods, just want to go faster lol, thanks!
Also for the EJ20G do I need the EJ20G wiring harness and the ecu? or do I use the EJ22T harness and ecu?

Re: EJ22T VS. EJ20G
I vote ej22t, more usable power. I've had both, and ej20g is fun, has better top end, but is a lame duck down low and in the mid range in comparison. The 22t is a beast in those areas but dies down around 5-5.5k rpm.
As for the rest of your questions, check out the first few threads in each section as ej20g swaps have been covered extensively! Talking about the "sticky" links in each section.

I also vote the EJ22T since it has more displacement
91 black SS 5 speed (Canadian).... Closed deck EJ20G, fully built, V5/6 sti ra drivetrain, haltech stand-alone
93 silver TW 5 speed... rebuilt 22T with 20G heads, wrx ra drivetrain, otherwise stock.

Re: EJ22T VS. EJ20G
EJ22T if it checks out. They are going to be getting 'rare' at some point with most of us switching motors. EJ20 if you want to get crazy like I was.

Re: EJ22T VS. EJ20G
I've ran a built 2.2 w/ 20g heads and a Stock 20k engine with a RobTune, and the 20k was only fun in high rpms. I would rather have a stock 2.2 than a 20g/k to be honest. Real fast spool, non interference engine and still able to make plenty of power to have a lot of fun.

Did you ever try a built 22k engine? That's what I was going for.

Re: EJ22T VS. EJ20G
That's why I have the K engine now. Going to start building a stroker 2.2 with the K heads so I can get rid of the hydro heads and have a 9g reving engine. My G heads are ported and polished, so of course I have to do it to the K heads also.mike-tracy wrote:Did you ever try a built 22k engine? That's what I was going for.

Re: EJ22T VS. EJ20G
I've had both in a SS - the best of both worlds would be a dohc ej22t - 2.2l TQ & dohc top end = win win.
