Ya it has been tough. There has been a few times I have put it up for sale but couldn't bring myself to sell it. I keep hearing about the EJ22T as being the strongest thing since the hulk but I was having so much bad luck I wanted to try something new. Can't wait to get it going as I have many other goodies to install. Glass headlights, wheels, suspension, CF sunroof...

One issue I keep finding is research on machining cranks. Some say never do it only use if it is at STD size never go larger. Where can I find an EJ20g, EJ22T nitride new crank?

Will the EJ205 pistons work in the EJ20G? I have to get 92.5mm but not sure about the height.

The phase II ej20 cranks will work if you have your block machined for the phase ii thrust bearing location. Then you could get the crossdrilled crank that subaru now stocks for ej205s.

I do know that phase II ej20 pistons work in a phase 1 case, with a phase I crank. Thats what I did in my old build.

I used phase II STI rods as well. I believe phase I rods would have worked, but the STI (ver 7+ ej207, USDM 257 as well as the 255) rods are the strongest Subaru ever made.

I went with phase ii 92.5mm Wisecos. Definately overkill for a rob tune lol.

I do have a used set of Ver 8 ej207 pistons, stock bore. Id let them go for super cheap if you wanted them.

I need 92.5mm+ though. So will 2004 USDM WRX/STI pistons work?

Phase ii pistons will work. I still used the thicker phase I ej20 gaskets (available in the subaru parts system) because robtune doesn't work with higher compression engines, at least not for long :(

Where are you at with the swap my friend?

I am FINALLY picking up my 93 wagon tomorrow and bringing it to my new house. EJ20g is sitting at my friends engine shop. Ive been trying to gather everything I need for the motor and five speed swap, and I think I have most of what I need.

Anything you can recommend, or would you happen to have a list of parts you purchased? My car was originally n/a for what its worth.
Parts Needed:

Manual Cluster
Front & Rear bumper Chrome Trim

Currently just picked up the rotating assembly from my machine shop fully balanced. I am about to start assembling the block and getting the engine bay ready. Still need to pull the dash to make the pedal swap easier and wiring the EJ20G easier as well. Parts I currently purchased were just new things I needed, pistons, rods, crank, flywheel, ECU, 550 injectors, ej22 n/a rails, clutch.....

I will keep you posted.

Really good stuff, but do you have the time to finish by the 16th?

I do have an STI rack, slated for my RS. Can't say how much better it will be since i've never driven the same car before and after. It does feel really responsive in the STI's and other swapped car's i've driven. The 1st gen's have a 16:1 steering ratio, while the 04-last year of hatch body style STI has a 15:1 ratio. The newer stuff is even faster.
