1994 SS 4EAT, CV axle issue.

Post by wvufan8353 »

1994 SS, EJ22T 4EAT

So i dont drive my ol' subie at all anymore, but last time i jumped in and started it up, put it in drive, i heard a loud grinding coming from the front end.

further inspection i found that when in gear, the front driver side cv half axle was just spinning and not engaging the hub. If i turned the wheel all the way to the left or right, the axle would then clunk and engage the hub.

couple questions here, why would the axle fail after just being parked, no hard driving before i parked it or anything.

and is it possible i could get by with just replacing the half shaft and fixing the problem. Im afraid the hub may have been jacked up from the spinning splines on the axle.

Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

That's odd, how it failed without driving. Changing the half shaft will fix it and the hub is fine.
