i chose the possumlink because it was a direct plug in ECU, didn't want the link plus because I have no need for anti-lag. heres the link http://www.link-electro.co.nz/possumlink.html

They have a plut in one for the 22B...hmm...Do you guys think that would work for our cars, or would the difference in cams and head breathability make things too different?

22b was quad cam, plus it had alot bigger turbo than your cars, also forged pistons and rods=more boost, and it had rally spec cams, I don't think it would suit, you'd be better off with the one that I got. I could stroke mine to 2.2ltrs and it would still be suitable.

I'll get my car back tomorrow after sitting on the dyno for the last 3 days (long weekend here) so i'll have a power output for you guys.

haha, at least yours should work fine. If we ignored the pistons, and I put in a bigger turbo, I wonder if it work then. I wonder if the thing is tuned for those heads and cams that specsifically.22b was quad cam, plus it had alot bigger turbo than your cars, also forged pistons and rods=more boost, and it had rally spec cams, I don't think it would suit, you'd be better off with the one that I got. Either way, your probably right that yours is a better match up if it will work for a 2.2.

I don't think it was the 96 wrx one he got, unless I'm not reading something he said. I thought he got the one for the Liberty RS.

So in australia upto 96 they still had OBD1. Meaning if I ordered possumlink for 96WRX it would fit my 90/91 frankenstein. I plan to rewire a few items anyways so as long as the plugs are similar its cool. I even have an extra engine wire harness to help in adding leads.
Does anyone have an image of the 90-94 ECU connector? I could mail this to LINK and see what they say.

Ciper: the BC legacy and GC8 A~C had the 4 plug ecu, the later models had the 3 plug ecu.
I'll post a pic of the 4 plug ecu.
Here it is, I don't have one of the actual plugs on my pc though. Could rip my ecu out and take one if you really wanted.

My ecu is the 16bit (same as the MY92~96 WRX) one found in the facelift BC/BF's. The earlier ones were 8bit.[/img]

make sure you get a good tuner, and some advice - get the PC link cable so they can tune it via laptop, I'm having issues with my tuner at the moment, i.e. he doesn't know what hes doing
its going back to get tuned once I upgrade my coils

Ill get a base tune from a shop and do the rest on my own. Eventualy I want to enable the oxygen sensor and allow auto tuning, once my setup is stable.
Why do you need to upgrade your coils? If your having trouble with them I suggest going elsewhere. Hell, your area of the world is king when it comes to Link user/tuners.
I dont even plan to use coil on plug. Most likely Ill end up with a MSD DIS-2 with a diamond coil pack and magnecore 8.5mm wires. I see no reason to go crazy especially considering the amount of power made on the stock system!

it blows out the spark on 18psi, I'm installing bosch coils, this is what a guy said on our website,
"They dont have a listing because they are not a direct replacement.
Dont use factory coils again as they will keep on failing. The heat cracks the coil ends which causes all the problems.
The bosch coils to use are the HEC715 or HEC 716.
These are a single high energy coil that needs ignition leads to run off them and onto the spark plugs.
You need to mount each coil onto the chassis rails and solder the stock coil power wires onto the terminals supplied.
All up its about a 3 hour job and costs about $300.
However it will never fail again.
Mine were done 3 years ago and have been trouble free even on 24psi.

The coil-on-plug coils are more susceptible to damage from heat than the 2-channel coil packs. The DIS-2 with Diamond coil pack should make a spark stronger than Bosch high-energy coils.
I believe you could use an MSD DIS-4 with four Bosch coils.

Yeah I'm with you now.
But the solution with the Bosch coils is that they are external coils, not coil/plug type ones. With the Bosch ones you need to make up brackets so you can mount them on your chassis rails.
Those Late model WRX/STi waste spark coil packs are not cheap down under.
