4EAT no reverse, brake band adjustment?

Post by 1stGenSubieLeg »

I have a 93 FWD with no reverse. When the car is cold it will engage reverse and I can back out but once the tranny is warm it won't move. I've tried flushing fluids and Lucas tranny fix but it didn't change.

Is there an adjustment for the reverse bands or am I stuck doing a rebuild/replacement?

The brake band adjustment typically won't do anything for reverse. Here are some scans from the factory manual you can review if you want to give it a shot. More than likely you'll need to do a rebuild or replacement. You'll probably be able to find a replacement for cheaper than you can do a rebuild. Plus unless you replace all the inards I just haven't heard of rebuilds being the same as before they were rebuilt.
