So my 1993 Subaru Legacy was hit when it was parked in my apartment by a teen who was driving a stolen car on a suspended licence...
So I think my car is totaled and am still waiting to hear from insurance.
However I am looking at one or two 2001 Legacy GTs on Saturday and wanted to know if the suspension I had on my 93 would fit on a 2001 GT.
I have KYB AGX struts and 2006 STi springs on the 93.
I tried to search on KYB's website to see the part numbers but have not come up with much luck...
Any help appreciated.
Thank you.

The rears wont work as the 3rd gen and newer subarus have a new multilink suspension. Your springs won't work in the rear either.

Sorry to hear about your car.
From time to time, 3rd gen jdm GT-B Bilsteins come for sale on ebay. I have a set of 2nd gen gtb bilsteins in my SS and it is super smooth and handles amazing.

Well, that sucks. Your right rear strut is probably bent anyway.
A lot of the parts for the 05-09 Legacy will fit those so you have pretty good options.

Okay that is good to know that the rear would not work out anyway (and yeah that right side is likely bent anyways).mike-tracy wrote:The rears wont work as the 3rd gen and newer subarus have a new multilink suspension. Your springs won't work in the rear either.
So will the fronts swap out then?
I probably don't even have 15K miles on the KYB AGX struts and would love to use them if I can.

Thanks for the help guys. I feel well loved and supported by my fellow Subie/Legacy friends.

The fronts bolt in, but i'm not sure how good an idea mixing and matching struts and springs is. Your agx's and springs are designed for a lighter car, so I can imagine having different rears could cause the car to rock back and forth worse under braking or acceleration. And/or be super bouncy on the freeway. It's all speculation till you try it though.

I see that sounds like it would be true.mike-tracy wrote:The fronts bolt in, but i'm not sure how good an idea mixing and matching struts and springs is. I guess I will leave the suspension alone and hope that the insurance will reimburse me the cost of the AGX struts since I have receipts for those.

Worse case, pull the AGX's out before the car goes away and try to resell them.
