My turbo is Boosting OIL

That spinning thing that makes all of the cool noises. OE and Aftermarket.

My turbo is Boosting OIL

Post by snowjob »

Hi everyone, I've got a bit of a problem on my hands, I just went on a 500km trip and on the way back noticed that my legacy was sluggish. When I got home I opened the hood to notice oil all around the intake, where the plastic intakes meets the metal one, by the throttle plate. looking down at the turbo I've noticed oil is built up around the outsite of the output side of the turbo. So that's prob #1, has somthing let go??What should I be doing??
Prob 2. After this trip I'm not getting any boost until 3800rpm and then all of a sudden i'm getting gobs(11psi) although it is fun  and it plants you in your seat, i'd prefer it around the 3000rpm level where it really bogs down. Any suggestions, this is getting a bit agrivating....
I hanvn't done any mods to the engine with the exception of extra grounding to the altenator/coil pack, and replaced the exhause with a Ractive Twin oval (loud but not honda civic like)

Ps. I just intalled a set of 99impreza RS seats in it and man are they sweet, excellent mod and they bolt right in. Pics to follow.

Thanks

The crankcase and "valve case" vents output in the box just in front of the turbo.. so it can be normal to find a bit on oil in the compressor side of the turbo, or the intake tubes after the turbo.

If you see oil outside of them, then my first bet would be a failing/broken / loosened colar. verify all of them. This broken colar could cause a leak, letting air and oil get out.

Thanks, By the collar I think you mean the bracket that you tighten around the hosing? I'll check these.
Thanks
