I have a 93 auto twag that I am getting ready to do a forester 5 spd swap on. I've done 5 spd swaps before but never a forester trans. The only question I have is what flywheel/ clutch combination do I need. Do I match it to the engine or to the transmission side?

Yep, what Mike said.
There are two types of clutches, push or pull type. It's the direction in which the slave cylinder engages the clutch fork.
So get a clutch and pressure plate to match the transmission.

I picked up a transmission and the guy said he got it out of a 93 legacy. I looked up the code 3v- ty752va2aa and it checks out as 4.11 gears from a 90-94 legacy. My question is what legacys had 4.11 gears so I can get the right rear diff. I thought only alpine sports had the 4.11 gears and all the others ones were 3.90. Or can I use any other 4.11 rear diff out of a forester?
