The Scion XB is a great vehicle. You show me another car with the same set of standard options for the price. I dare you.

Go and test drive one. If you havnt then you are only speaking from your behind. Just because the marketing in america is aimed towards metrosexuals doesnt mean its a bad car. Check out how popular they are in Japan and your story will change.

Wouldnt you like to own a new 13k$ vehicle with traction control, cruise, power, automatic, good gas mileage, AC, CD, ABS, Stability control, tons of storage and with a toyota engine to boot? Plus its assembled in Japan :o The engine may look weak, but you forget how light the car is. Its plenty fast even with the auto.
Better than any slow ass civic that is slow and has no storage and high insurance.

This has to be the ultimate low priced commuter.

When did I say it wasn't a great car? I have no idea what it has what the specs are or anything. I do know it looks like a box on wheels though. No I wouldn't like to own a new car with that, esp if it was a scion. If I had 13k to blow on a car it'd go to a legacy, I just can't see paying that much money on a car, then a few years down the road spending more money on it. In the almost two years I've owned my car I haven't broke $4000 (including initial buy price and gas) on it so why pay so much more for a vehicle that has almost the same features and is much worse looking. If it has all that, then there's no doubt it is the ultimate low priced commuter for a new car. I'm sure it's excellent in everyway except visual appealment, there's no two ways about it, the box is ugly. The car isn't nearly as bad.

No thanks. Piss poor aerodynamics, weedy engine and short wheel base that would be a beast long distance and if its anything like any other Toyota to drive it would have the looks to match the rest. They're not sold here yet, but I have no interest in any of those standard features either. If content was what was important we'd all be driving loaded American boats with $3k cash back laying on the hood.

Its obvious you guys are biased.

evolutionmovement: Doesnt matter about the aerodynamics, you aren't after top speed right? The only other effect it has is gas mileage which is already higher than any subaru (pleo excluded).

I still say until you drive it I take your comments as meaning nothing. I thought the car would be another crappy model along the lines of a kia/suzuki/daihatsu/daewoo but its far better.

THAWA: How would you spend more money on it a few years down the road? It has 0 miles on it, its a toyota and it has a warranty. If any manufacturer rivals subaru for reliability its Toyota. This vehcle would end up being cheaper than a used subaru in the long run, I know because I already calculated it when comparing it to a two door 2.5 liter Impreza.....

Aerodynamics also effect highway driveability. I don't like getting blown over lanes in strong crosswinds or replacing windshields from flying rocks every year (even with insurance compensation there's no guarantee they'll do the job right and taking things apart all the time is bound to cause problems in the long run). It's also dubious style over function, which I delpore. Nor do I want to be associated with the clientele. Baggy pants around my ankles may be comfortable, but I think I'll pass. And I don't care how well a woman cooks if she's ugly - I can always eat out (in more ways than one). Beauty is soothing to the psyche while ugliness is not. If this weren't true, explain the studies of depression and its link to filthy habitation, not to mention principles of Feng Shui (if you buy that stuff).

To each their own if you like it. Looks like a Samarai that can't go off road to me, but then I like things like Morgan Trikes - try explaining that one to normal people.

As for being popular in Japan... well they also like robot pets, cartoon porn, and pissing school girls, so they can keep them.

I dont agree. You still need to check one out. The outside of the vehicle is small but the interior is huge. It has more headroom than ANY vehicle (non SUV) I can think of. Seriously, on one of your lunch times just go down and try it.

You dont like pissing school girls? 8)

Just to wander even more off topic:

I thought the xA was the boxy looking one, not the xB. If I'm correct the xB isn't all that bad looking IMHO.
