So today I was messing around with some stuff and long story short I see that I can plug my EJ20k intake harness directly into my cars chassis harness:


I was under the impression up until this point, after researching for forever, that that the K harness would not even plug into my cars chassis harness. Almost every plug on the K intake harness plugs into something, either on the car itself or on the manifold.

So my question is, how different could this Ej20k harness be in comparison to an EJ20g harness, which from research, should plug directly into my car and run an EJ20g by only adding a few things (COP conversion, Boost Control Solenoid, map sensors)

Here are some plugs that I didnt immediately find a place for, and am going to check out on the wiring diagrams I have, but just in case anyone recognizes them and wants to tell me

Joe,

For the intake wiring harness, the pins like the injectors and TPS are probably the same. You would need to look at the wiring diagrams and make a pin out list for each connector and then compare the two. If there are pins that are different you could then repin/swap them around.

For any additional wiring I would recommend just running new wiring to those specific sensors back to the ECU. I think that would be the better route.

This looks like the third plug for the intake manifold wiring harness. If it is, those should all be ground pins



Also, what is this:

Pretty sure that is the pressure exchange solenoid used to switch the MAP sensor between manifold and atmospheric pressure. But it looks different then the one on the US first gen Legacies.

For everyone else, I am finally getting back to work on this car. Here is a list I put together on what I need, what I need to do, and what im missing. If anyone cares to have a look, or happens to have any of the things I need.

I worked on some stuff today. Extended wires for the Boost Control Solenoid and Pressure Control Solenoid. Cleaned up the harness I made for the coil on plug conversion as well.



Ive been looking through schematics for hours and I cant figure out where to find info regarding which wire on each sensor is signal and which is ground. Anyone care to help? Also, do I need to run the ground wire to the ECU as well, or just the signal wire?

Signal wire to ECU, each coil ground can be sent right to the bolt mounting the coil to the head.

What about the other sensors, like the BCS for example? I know the signal wire goes to Pin F47.3 on the ECU, but what about the ground? Should I just splice into the ground from another sensor?

Also, is there an easier way to figure out which wire is signal & which is ground? Other than trying to find the schematics and finding out that way.

The schematics in 2-7 will typically show you what you need. For example the MAF diagram in section 2-7 shows you exactly what is needed.

The ECU almost always "sinks" current vs. supplying it. So on those solenoids you would hook up an ignition switched +12 source to one side of the wiring and the other would go to the ECU. Take a look at page 221 of 336 in the service manual and see if that makes sense.

for the coil on plug wiring, 3 pin plug to coil,
pin 1 - Signal
pin 2 - Ground
pin 3 - Power

The power can be sourced from the original coil pack(wasted spark) power wire. This can be branched to 4 individual wires leading to each new 4 individual coils(COP).

Harness completed for COP conversion. Still need to put ends on the ground wires, I didnt have the right size ones. Need
to grab a connector from something to attach those four power wires like my man dankberries said

Thank you Kindly! I just finished putting on connectors for ground, and ran all four power wires to the connector I cut off of the coil pack:

Also picked up my radiator, had the fan shroud cut and flush mounted to save a little space. Radiator is still too tall, oh well.

Found and purchased an ej20g intake manifold complete with harness.

Ive been trying to get all the little stuff taken care of, using this piece of the manual as a reference:




According to the picture above the cooling fan plug should be F21 (circled in red,) but this looks like the correct plug and is located on the right side of the harness, which I circled in green.




I do not know where in the manual to find out which color wire is what. All I really know is I have two wires coming off my fans, and this connector has three.

I put this on the shock tower today. Going to run power to the sensors this weekend, then bundle up everything I need to run to the ecu... and run it there.

So this is a little bit of a nuance in the FSM....the is only one engine cooling fan and that's what's called out in the diagram. The other cooling fan is technically for the AC system. There is a jumper when tied together allows the fans to operate together rather then independently.

As for the wire colors I'd suggest checking the FSM in the AC section.

To hook up my fan I can use the B wire as ground, and the YR for power.
