Im interested in what headers have been installed and any issues that have been found. Most likely they will all fit but I wonder if any headers exist that may have trouble (interfearance) on the legacy turbo.
Impressions of the headers are welcome as well

I dont think you are correct, Ive read many times that everything works, except that your exhaust after the downpipe needs lengthened

I have a set of gt spec headers I'm sure you've seen. I have them posted in a link in the photo forum under viewtopic.php?t=1423 I dont know what the gains are as of yet because the motor is still sitting in my basement but they are for a '02 wrx and they bolt right up. The only problem I had was where the up-pipe attaches to the bracket at the turbo flange end. its about 4mm too short. This makes the turbo sit 4mm lower than normal but I havent seen a problem with this yet.

Upon closer examination its aproximately 1cm. The coolant line that runs down the side and below the turbo hits the block. I'm going to machine a spacer for it at work. As far as mine being a defect I'm not quite sure. I read on Subarureview.com that the up-pipe was a bit short but it was at a very fair price and the rest of the header is very very well manufactured.

GT-Spec Header
I'll answer my own question. Yes. There is a difference, using the stock uppipe will not leave a gap. I got the GT-Spec header on today and used the stock uppipe. Everything fit perfectly.
I have found that my bottom end suffers just a bit. It takes just a wink longer for the turbo to hit full boost, ~16psi, when I shift into 2nd. I also think the exhaust got deeper and quieter. I still have the stock downpipe, so I account the quietness to that. Overall, I am pleased with the result. I haven't pushed it hard on top yet because the roads aren't the greatest and winter tires like to get squirrley at higher speeds.
One more thing, #2 and #4 runners are a little closer to the bumper than the stock one. If you look under there, there is some wiring harness attached along the inner edge of the bumper. You might want to try and pull it farther away from the pipes with a zip tie or something.
