I want to put an aftermarket stereo in my new '93 Legacy. Where can I get some sort of adapter so that it'll fit in the available spacing?

Aftermarket stereo's are din sized, it's a meausurement that has become a standard. Just so you know, our radio space is 2.5 din. The pocket under the stock radio is 1 din sized. So you can just put the aftermaket radio where the pocked is or just move the radio down and put the aftermarket above it. Or try and find a 1.5 din pocket and put that in place of the stock radio. Either that or you can try to put a piece of plastic in the extra space left by the .5din when you downsize to a regular sized aftermaket. There are also 1.5din sized radios if that's what you want, but aren't nearly as popular.

My car came with a stock cd player.

Are the "pockets" that sit below the cd player hard to find off legacys in a junkyard or whatever?

Is it a pain in the ass to find a 1.5DIN aftermartket "pocket" so that I maximize available space?

Does anyone have pics of their setups?

Ah I don't know what the cd player setup is.

The 1 din size aren't taht hard to find, the 1.5din's are semi rare, not really though. I've seen a few around. It's also not an aftermaket part. I thnk you might be able to order one from the dealer.

Opie (I think) has pics of it in the parts shed but I think he sold it.

I just posted a 1.5-DIN pocket up in the Parts Shed. :)

Josh just made a little black plastic plate to take up the extra space on his car. You can kind of see it in this picture:

I'm interested in the 1.5 pocket and a wiring adapter... I added you to my AIM buddy list to contact you :)
