Where in the CA vehicle code does it state tint levels? I cant find any mention to how "dark" the tint is allowed to be.

Probably 'officer's discretion' like the sound levels. I suggest not looking rice and driving nice would give you an extra allowance of dark tint.

When you get down south.....tint is almost a necessity. You're car just bakes inside if you don't have tint. I wish I could get my windshield tinted :)

I don't know the vehicle code, but when I was getting it installed, the tint guy said the rear windows can be whatever darkness you want. The only California law that I know for sure is the no tint on the front two one. Still, with our old cars you won't get any glances from Johnny Law if you do decide to tint 'em.
