As my legacy's turning 210,000 miles I noticed some slight creaking in the chassis when the radio's turned off. I was thinking of some ways to stiffen up the chassis without putting in a cage:

Front and rear STBs
Front and rear lower tie bars
subframe locking bolts (for the diff).

Any other bolt-on aids?

This might be a stupid question, but are there any accessible bolts (without taking the body panels off) that I might be able to tighten down to spec, just in case they are loose?

I bet most of the creaks you hear are from trim parts.

Ya I agree, Its prolly plastic trim bits making sounds. Unibody cars don't really loose chassis rigidity with age. If you want a super rigid structure, then consider a roll cage, you can't get any better then that.

mine squeaks sorta like metal on metal, but not a bad grinding noise. it's mostly on the passenger rear. i think strut bars will make it better though.

I have found the the plastic rattles get noisier when you stiffen up the chasis. but maybe it is the 385 spring rates. i think my car is just about as stiff as it can be (minus a rollcage)

Even the coilovers I'm looking at for my baby aren't any stiffer than that. . . . UP FRONT.

I have dms 50's. my guess (although I could be wrong) is that the strut would tear through the metal before there would be any body roll.
body roll is no longer an issue.

The TEIN HA ships with 7kg/6kg on the GC8, and 8/8 on the Legacy. The rears can barely hold the car up, so that's why i'm getting higher rate springs. They hold up the car!

Wow. . . . I've been looking at the Tein Flex for my car. . . 8/7 F/R. But no heavy wagon ass to hold up, here.
