Instrument panel bezel removal

Hello.. my moms 94 legacy wagon has some burnt out bulbs behind the speedo and tach. I think this is something i can do myself... plus I wanna put some LED's back there so this never happens again. However.. i cant figure out how to get the black pastic trim over the steering wheel. I have all the screws out but I cant seem to get the steering wheel column low enough to get the trim panel over it. Can anyone help??

push up on the bulge in the dash. it's bendable, just tough. the plasic bends a little as well. kinda tricky, but it's possible.
