Engine Stuff on 1st Cat --help!

Post by tris91ricer »

okay.. it's a nice day here in Tacoma, which is rare, for those of you who don't know. Anyway, after a spirited drive, like always, i smell something hot. not good. upon opening the hood, i find that on the passenger side, toward the firewall, looking down there appears to be oily gunk and whatnot all over my (what i think) is my first catalytic, and the passenger side CV boot. There's a hose above it, but no leaks in that hose, so i'm at a loss of whether i have an oil leak or something else.. any ideas?

i'm gonna do an oil change tonight anyway, just to see if that helps..haven't done that in a while. --off to Autozone!

thanks,

Inspect the inner and outer CV boots carefully. Maybe of them is torn and that's where the greasy mess came from.

When the inner CV boot rips it throws grease out all over the cat. That's my guess as well.
