boost gauge is going where my cigarette lighter used to be I think. lighter broke, figured I might as well do something useful with the area. :)

I'll be running them in the center. Boost, A/F, Oil Pressure are the three I'll be running (I think).

Those are three VERY good gauges to be running for a FI setup. 8)

That's a good idea, however, I have accessories that I use in my lighter...

Does anyone have pics of their setup though?

Here's my setup;

Image

the pic is from last year, it works very well for me but if you are trying to set your boost level the location of the boost gauge can be annoying as you have to look down while driving hard... but on a day to day basis i love it.

the orange switches are for my extra lights, i also now have a button on there for my waterspray and a switch for my abs as well

hope it helps :D

I can't put mine at the bottom of the console - its where I fit CD's.

That useless open pocket left of the wheel would be a good place - unlikely to be seen from outside, either.

great minds think alike

i just used a piece of thin gauge aluminum, if you cut it out just right and bend it to the proper curve it holds itself in place like mine, no adhesives/clips/screws needed.

This is what i did;
- Cover the opening area with duct/masking tape
- use a marker to mark the outline onto the tape
- peel off the sheet of tape and place it on some non-corrugated cardboard
- cut it out
- put a slight curve in it (roll in on a bottle or can)
- put it in place and edit it as neccessary
- at this point i also figured out all the holes i needed
- when finished the template transfer it to the metal, and it should work on the first cut, also curve the metal nicely before attempting to put it in or else you'll get creases.

I wanted to scan my template in with measurements but i've found that no two cars are alike, the center console and dash don't always line up the same

* the hardest part was cutting the hole for the boost gauge, the hole isn't circular but rather a non-symmetrical elipse.

i was thinking of covering the aluminum in some of that fake carbon fiber stuff, do you guys think that would look good or ricey?

I am still debating. I might run a setup like Brat4by4, and have 3 gauges where the stock radio is. But the setup like NuwanD has is pretty legit. I'll have to check that out when I go home.

On the EGT/AF gauge, I haven't decided. AF is really straight forward and I can make assumptions based on that about my EGT. I don't see the advantage of the EGT gauge when it says the same thing. You just have to think more with the EGT gauge.

Thats not how Id tune it. Id use EGT as the primary indicator and A/F to know which direction I need to go when EGT isnt correct.

my friend painted his wrx rims with that stuff and it looks like a professional powder coat, seems like it's the magical solution to all our painting needs :D

i'd tune according to egts as well by lowering them as much as possible without running too rich, the A/F gauges aren't as accurate unless you get one that runs off a wideband 02 sensor rather than the stock narrow band sensors

Wow, you guys are losing me. heheh

[newbquestion]
What does an EGT Gauge do and how easy are they to hookup.
[/newbquestion]

I really like that 89-91 CRX one. and cheap and easy works for me

I have a stereo mod that is going to take up my center console.

EGT = Exhaust Gas Temperature. Simply a temperature probe that does exactly what it's name says.

Hmm I have a lot to learn about tuning, lol. I should probably learn how to tune and then just get an EGT gauge...

With EGT you can monitor mixture and ignition timing (especially important if your messing with timing), its like having2 guages in one. With A/F you can only monitor mixture, besides the cheap narrowband autometer A/F guages that wire into the factory O2 sensor are garbage, even don't bother even trying to tune with those. EGT I feel is the way to go, but its a little pricier.

Id say go with a nice EGT and a volt meter connected to the 02 sensor, then a laminated sheet with the voltage to A/F ratio. Gives you the best tuning ability for the money!
