Post by legacy92ej22t »

I thought it would be cool to know what everyone is running for an intercooler setup.

Feel free to post pics and/or a more detailed description of your setup. :)

I run a Saab 900 w/ plastic end tanks.

Boostjunkie, Why didn't you vote for the STI v2? Did you vote for the OEM WRX because you plan to swap or did someone else vote for that?

DLC, where did you get that yellow silicon connector from? I need one like that for my turbo setup (its a 3" to 2 1/2" right?)

You can get silicone reducers like that from lots of places. Google for "silicone reducer" or search for the same string on eBay.

It does look like Dave's got a ground strap going to the MAF sensor housing but it isn't really doing anything (unless the bolt going through the MAF sensor is also going through something else on the car); the body of the MAF sensor isn't connected to any of its circuitry.

Well, I don't know what to vote for. I have an early wrx slant IC. It looks just like boostjunkies, from what I can tell, but I'm not the most observant person sometimes...so maybe I'm missing something.

I have a FMIC, with blitz plumbing - slightly modified, blitz end tanks and a custom core, after going from a water/air top mouted cooler, its one of the best mods you can do. TMIC is better than none, but if you want to do it once and do it properley - GO FMIC! you won't be sorry.

p.s. the extra lag myths are exactly that - myths.

I guess I should have made another option for early WRX slant IC's. I'd say just vote for the v2 sti since they're almost exactly the same.

Kostamojen: That intake tube and reducer are from a custom, limited run that JC Sports made, which i was able to con out of them :D

The ground kit i have has 7-8 ends, so i just started connecting this and that and everything i could think of.

Wow! The Saab 900 Intercooler looks OEM! I had just picked up an intercooler out of a Ford Probe but I think the Saab looks better (and easier to install!) Are all the Saab 900 Intercoolers the same diminsions as the one shown above? I've found 2 types, all aluminum and aluminum with plastic end tanks...are they the same dimensions?

Not bad, but the coolant tank has to move, and the throttle body coupler should be black. Thats how I'd do it to clean things up a little.

Same thing from what I hear. I have an all metal that I painted black to match all of my blackness on the car.

Will, definately. It's a local exhaust shop, the guy has been doing Subaru exhaust work for years -- plus he has all the specs for this pipe still, just say the word. ;)

How much did that piping run you Magnux?

And is there a chance that your exhaust guy could do more than 1 setup like that and you could sell it to us :)

I know of at least 3 ppl here attempting to run saab setups, and those pipes would make it way easier for us.

Fernely, the original owner of the car, was asked by quite a few people on here to have these pipes made. Of all the people interested, no one actually bought any.

Here's a link to the previous post: http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?t=1647

Previously, he was quoted by the shop for $120 per set, plus shipping. I'll check with the shop again, and make sure he'll still make a few sets. I just don't want to bring this up and get no response -- again.

So, let me know now before I go down there again. :)

Magnux, I'm interested but in a slightly modified setup......I want the pipe from the turbo to the intercooler only, with no Blow off valve attachement. My plan is to use the factory air-box to turbo setup, factory blow-off solenoid along with the "Magnux Piping" and Saab Intercooler...call me crazy but I'd even like to keep the chimney if possible! :D

I'm gonna powdercoat it black (OEM style) and use black silicone hose to make it look factory as possible. If that's a possibility let me know....if not and I end up going with the complete setup...you & Jose are gonna drive over and help me install it right! :D
