An Idea for a Car Book I Could Actually Sell

Post by evolutionmovement »

I saw a broken down Sunbird on the highway today and there was this dude staring under the hood as if he were waiting for a genie to come out and fix it for him. This got me thinking... Your average dude nowadays knows absolutely nothing about cars, probably less since what they do know is probably myth or bad information they picked up from poor sources (friends). Every car show I go to I hear dudes talking BS loudly to impress their girlfriends. Sometimes I speak up, most of the time I don't. But what I do hear is the girlfriends making intelligent observations and asking smart questions (when they show interest). Usually their dude just blows them off as he doesn't know the answer (this is where I usually come in). Women don't feel some macho need to know about cars and I would contend that today your average non-car woman knows more about cars than your average non-car man since they listen when someone explains something while the men shut their ears and open their mouths to insultingly vibrate the air molecules. Women are also by far the largest consumers of books. Non-fiction is very popular. And thus,

Embarrass Your Boyfriend - A Woman's Guide to How Cars Work

I remember how hard it was for me to learn about cars as basic information is scattered everywhere and not in any order. There is howstuffworks.com, but I don't think many people know about it and I'm thinking of a different format anyway. Of course I'm also rewriting one novel, writing another, and working on three screenplays, so who knows if I'l ever get around to it.

That's a great idea.

And I bet a lot of guys would secretly buy it too. :)

I remember many times when I helped a stranded couple of motorists or something and got thanks from the girl but scowls from the guy.

That is such a great idea Steve. I bet it would be a big hit, you should totally do it.

You could do the same type of book on all sorts of subjects that guys act tough and all knowing about.
