How Much Crap Can I Haul In A Leg Wagon?

Post by Bosco »

So, I'm about to buy this guy's 92 Legacy L Wagonand I can't work out a way to transport all of the extra goodies that come with it without spending about $700 to rent a truck and trailer to haul the car and parts back....
So How much of that stuff do y'all think I could haul in the car itself? Keeping in mind that I'm gonna be going about 500 miles.

Obviously I want to prioritize in order of importance ....
Any suggestions and opinions would be greatly appreciated.

If the exhaust comes in pieces you could probably fit everything but the doors. Maybe not the bumper either. I'm not sure on that. That's allowing for using some front seat space. Fitting the wheels would be a little tough I think, but you should be able to do it. These engines are small. I would stick it in transmission first (if attached to engine). The engine will fit between the strut towers at their narrowest point widthwise or behind the towers offset next to one of the bins. If the transmission is seperate You could probably fit a door, but I don't know how you'd load them without denting them by stacking and having them move while driving.

i have been trying to get the 5mt legacy center driveshaft from him, but don't get many replies to my inquiries. If you do buy it and get all the stuff I'd be interested in the driveshaft.

Are you flying out there?

Just get a friend with a truck to drive out with you. Hell of a lot cheaper than renting a truck.

MTK - driveshaft

Sorry for the lack of replies here. Been super busy with work. With Bosco thinking of buying, I didn't want to split the deal until I know something for sure from him. No mal-intent MTK. Hope you understand,

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm flying... unless I figure out something else..... I'd like to have a friend drive out with me, but all my friends that I would even bother asking have "regular jobs" and would have trouble breaking away for as long as I would need them to.

evolutionmovement, Thanks very much for the input.... nobody seems to be arguing against your statement so far.

I've transported four wheels and an engine in the back of my wagon, so I do have a pretty good idea.

Well, the bumper and doors are the last on my priority list really... I hope to at least get one door (or the lock cylinder parts I need from it) even if I have to strap it to the roof! Lol

I think you could fit the bumper front doors and engine inside, engine in the rear most section, with doors against the folded up seat bottom resting flat then bumper sideways on top of it all.
