OK, I have been doing alot of the reading, and trying to find a good overall ride without making it harsh. right now, the springs/struts are SHOT. I like the adjustability of the KYB AGX's over the Gr-2's. And when you replace the struts/shocks, why not do the springs too. Whiteline are good, but H&r offered one for 92-94 that was minimal on the drop. I just picked her up, so the car is slowly getting mods. ( 93 SS 5-mt with 108,000 on her for $3000- did pretty good I think) we also have a 01 RS (worked to look like a 22b replica minus the fender flares), so we can swap out parts as needed. BUT I would rather get parts specific to the leg's if you know what I mean. After that , the wrx rims. So, any thoughts to this setup before I plunk down the $700?
Thanks
what ya think? agx/H&r and kyb tops?

rough roads lots of jumping, hard driving. Arent spring supposed to be replaced every other time you replace the struts?

Springs rarely wear out unless they where undersized to start. Id guess expect minimum 300k . Only metal fatigue causes problems, and the design of a coil spring pretty much prevents it. In fact, if you google around a little you will see that some feel springs get BETTER with age!! The only common problem is with sagging, not something I have seen on a subaru (execpt air suspension).
The H&R item is applicable to legacy 90-98 with non tapered springs, at least the whitelines are model/revision specific. I really hate that spring rates aren't easy to find from them.
Why support a vendor that doesnt care about our vehicle? Check the application guide from whiteline for our car and I DARE you to find another with more product.

My rear springs were somewhat saggy when I got the car at 84,000 miles, and for a few months I had a couple hundreds of pounds of weight in the trunk which completely shot them to hell. When I put my WRX rims on with 205/55/16 tires they rubbed even when going in a straight line with nothing in the trunk or back seat.

I agree, whiteline does have Scooby specific stuff, but hey, the more money you save on a mod= the faster you get your next mod. As for the springs- if the driver is VERY large, and the roads REALLY suck, then they will not last as long. They may be ok, but I am not settling for OK. besides, the rates for the sport springs such as whiteline and H&R are higher than factory. But I am going to do another search and see if I can find the whiteline ones for the same as I found the H&R. But I do like the higher rates; just the way I like the car setup.

Boostjunkie's setup felt pretty nice when he took me for a spin in his 91. I believe he's running TEIN springs, some KYB GR2's, and the STI top mounts.
Seemed to have the perfect stance, rode well on the smooth, but the potholes were almost painful. Seems like they were just on the border of being to stiff. Amazing control though, almost no body roll, it was awesome.

The car has too much bounce. How do I know>? when you push on the bumper, it comes up and down too much/too many times. I prefer the better spring rate of H&R, and the adjustability of the AGX's. When those are done, I plan on doing the larger rear sway bar and wheel/tire upgrade. I have a free set of 205/55/15 tires to put on until I do the 16 inch wrX wheel upgrade. Currently, My maxima will outcorner the shit out of the Legacy, and it has stock shocks/springs, but the rebound rate is about 20% of the Legacy's. In time, it will go fast in a straight line, as well as corner. anyone can make it go fast; but make it handle as well at the same time- NOW THAT IS MY GOAL!
