may turbo mag

Post by NICO »

In the new may issue of turbo, there is a wrx on the front cover add. if u read the first part of the story it tells you that the owner races sport bikes and beats them. 2 years ago i was smokeing sports bikes with my legacy turbo, no bike could get me from 0-120km i could rip them in half, if there is two pepole on the bike i make them look like a joke. i got to get my car in this mag my legacy is the suabru legacy.

No offense. . . . but a real sports bike will eat almost ANY car alive in a straight-line drag race.

If my legacy is ever as fast as my bike, i spent way WAY too much time and money on it.

...it's supposed to run mid elevens, and it's a "slow" bike

Maybe if the guy on the bike can't ride. A friend of mine beat a CBR (years ago) with his big block Chevelle, but the guy was short shifting and badly. We all knew he should've won, but the guy was a dick and didn't know better so we used to remind him of how he lost to aggravate him.

I ran a GSXR on the highway once, kept dead even up to 150mph.

Did I mention this was in my 2000 Trans Am..

that had a T-60 on it?

Most magazine featured cars aren't anything new to some people, they just take what has already been done a million times and bling-ify it so it looks all pretty and such. There are very few magazine featured cars that actually seem unique without being all about looks.

I've been wondering if we should try and get one of our cars into an issue of Sport Compact Car or likewise magazine? It is the predecessor to every modern WRX and RS they feature and has just as much capability despite the 10 year age difference. At least get ourselves into the readers rides portion.

Nico: what turbo are you running in your car?

You give a dyno plot and weight

We'll find the same for a random assortment of bikes

You will see that this just isnt easily possible. In fact the number of WRX that can beat the random sports bike could be counted on my fingers and toes.

hell no. Think about it, the main demographic is a bunch of 15-25 year olds driving the latest ricemobile. When they see a car that can beat a wrx for under 3000 what do you think will happen? Good bye good aura that is legacy.

I'm with THAWA. The last thing we need is more people going after our cars because the magazines said it's cool.

Hope you guys don't hate me if they make a movie from my screenplay with a turbo Legacy wagon like mine in it. It's nothing like the Slow & the Placid though, so the kids probably won't notice.

I suppose if I do sell the screenplay I won't care what anyone thinks of me

Of course, maybe I would have more luck with a lottery ticket.

yeah i think you're right there, i enjoy the fact that most people have no idea what my car is... just the "legacy" on my rear lights and the centercaps on my rims

Most people don't care what kinda car I'm driving.

Everyone around here has either a wrx, si, gsr, or rsx-s. And those are the cheap folks. Then you get all the bmws, rx-8s, and zs/g35s.

Most of them just think I'm some stupid ricer (ironically, since a lot of these guys throw their body kits and such on as first mods) with my bling-bling gold wheels. LOL!

Yea, there's a lot of rich nutswingers around here.

Vipers, AMG's, M3's, M5's (my count puts 4 on the MoCo radar), G35's, 350Z's, Skylines, 300ZX's, any number of somewhat high-dollar cars.

While I never expect to be faster than a Viper (yet...), it'll be nice to let a few people know that just because it cost a lot of bling, doesn't mean it's the fastest on the block.

An even funnier story was at the Auto Zone about a month ago. I was trying to fabricate a turbo inlet pipe since mine was cracked. I was lookin in the back of the store one of the guys there asked me what I was tryin to fabricate. I told him a turbo inlet for a 91 legacy turbo. He was like, "I might be able to ask my friend that works at a speed shop if he can hook ya up." I was like, "okay." I heard the guy on the phone talkin to his buddy and saying, "now DON'T lLAUGH *chuckle*, I need a part for a 91 turbo legacy." :x

That was all the conversation I heard until he came back and told me he couldn't get the part.

So here I was with about 10 radiator hoses, that needed to be ordered on the shelf, along with some window cleaner, gas treatment, and oil. I just left everything in the back and said I'd probably just get the stock part.

I wonder how long it took him to organize all the crap I left in the back?

All the necks around my school laugh when I say I have a Turbo legacy, so I've just stopped saying it. When asked, I just have a Legacy. The only places I've been that know what the car is, is Circuit City (audio department looking for an invisible head unit) and a few performance shops (the guy at Altered Atmosphere didn't believe me).

The guy at Extreme Motorsports knew what my car was. Only because one of the guys at the shop had one. He said his co-worker would probably want to get in touch with me considering he was looking for mods. I wonder what ever came of that car?
