TheSubaruJunkie: What are you talking about? The Mustang dyno is one of the best available for our cars, especially since its a load unit.

Sorry, all i focussed on was Mustang and AWD, there are SO Many Mustangs in this city i thought maybe it was some special AWD Mustang they'd have on show. But after i re-read the thread i realized it was the dyno :) hehe

Wow, he said EA81. :)

A true loyalist has pre-ninties subarus. :)

Well sweet, if ciper shows up that doesn't leave me with many excuses. maybe I'll have to show up as well. We'll see when we get closer to the date. I'm not sure I'll dyno, though. I pretty much know how much horsepower I have so 60 bucks for confirmation isn't that interesting. :)

Maybe it would show how good the snorkleoctomy and the k&n do together.

Ryan, out of the 9 Subaru's ive owned... this is my 1st EJ :)

Take the GL10 to the dyno and compare it with the Legacy.

I need to open my intake alittle, and fine tune the EJ22T before i get it tested.

"Take the GL-10" he says. hahaha, man it might fall apart on the dyno. No it wouldn't, that thing is a BEAST. I wasn't exactly always easy on it, and it never failed me. I bought it not running. My brother is driving it as his main transportation and he has abused it some himself, but I keep telling him to be careful cause if he wrecks it, he's on his own for transportation.

We took out the snorkus on that thing and it made massive improvement for sound. Now it is an all bark and no bite wonder. :)

I think it has around 118 horsepower, although that is stock, and just knowing the car I wouldn't say that it still has that horsepower right now, but it may be near that.

There were a few 4wd Mustangs built in the late sixties with Ferguson Fuller systems. The same that the Jensen Interceptor FF had.

EA81s rule! Subaru Junkie - I love your 84 wagon. That's what I eventually wanted to do to mine, but alas, the cancer got her.

What do you need for EA81 parts? I have some junk around still, though I'm holding onto the original 8-spoke alloys in the hope that I'll someday use them again.

Thanks, i love my 84... can never part with it. As a kid, its what ive always dreamt of. Then when i got them (thats my 6th or 7th ea81 wagon) i got tired of slow cars, and learned about the EJ22T about 3 years ago, but never thought i'd own one.

Now that i do, i'd love to see what kind of power they make.
Ryan, that GL10 is what I was looking for about 2 months ago. My roomate had a '89 GL10 Wagon with a EA82T and a FT4WD 5spd with center diff lock. It developed a headgasket leak and became a hog, eventually got towed away by the state of california :(

I'd like to do something to this EJ to bring up some pep, but keep it within CA smog specs.

Yeah I agree. There is quite a bit we can do actually. I'll be getting an exhaust soon and then it's intercooler, suspension work, and more boost. After that it will be injectors and fuel pump. All in due time. These cars have a lot of potential.

My GL10 is a rare car too. I haven't seen many of htem on the road. If I didn't have my legacy I'd consider fixing up my GL10. I love the diff lock it has. It is full time 4wd but you can lock the diffs. (front only I think) The rear is a LSD as well. I've been very happy with it.

The diff lock only locks the center diff to make it a true 50/50 split, the front diff is always open.

My legacy already has a new exhaust. I was thinking of taking the dremel to the air filter housing to open it up alittle and let it breath easier.

Really? When I lock that thing the front tires squeel in turns. There is not slip between those front two tires.

Wierd, it shouldnt. Are all your tires the exact same? There are absolutly no front locking or LSD diffs avail for any of the EA81 or EA82 line's, believe me... we've been searching for years. Rear LSD's are common now-a-days, but in order to have a front locker we'd need to get new gears cut for us :(

georryan: I have the exact same setup in my XT6. Its a viscous center differential normally and when you press the lock button it becomes like a transfer case with a 1:1 connection. The rear differential is a clutch based so make sure you use fluid with friction modifier. The front differential is open.

oh ok. Well I'd never done any research on it, so you guys have more expertise than me apperently. Hey, that's good to know then. My whole judgement was based of how it reacted.

As I was thinking about that center diff thing it actually makes sense. I would still hear the noise of screeching tires in a tight slow turn.

The front two wheels could slip between them, but since the front and rear is now a 1:1 ratio, and in a tight turn the rate of speed could change between one or more of hte front wheels and the back wheels, right? This probably becomes more likely because those GLs' front tires can make almost a 90 degree turn. :)

So you'd still hear the screaching possably. You'd especially hear this in gravel were traction is easier to loose.
