For the people who want to try this, but aren't the MacGuyver Legazee was, I put together a how to, on the fabrication of this creative invention.

I was hoping I wouldn't have to spend 200 bones on the MRT Pre-turbo resonator replacement hose.

I can't wait to see how the instalation goes!

I just bought the travel mug (Target at Milestone. "Automotive" department. $9.99. Dark blue and red. I got red because, well, red is faster). Meet's the maximum for all requirements, and is just over 5.5" long

I also got the barbed fittings at Home Depot. $3.50 for both.

I still haven't found the elbow, I might try to go to Lowes tomorrow or something.

I am free any evening this week (after 4pm on wednesday, and after 6pm on friday, and after 6pm on saturday).

Let me know if you want to work on it. I've still got to find the elbow fitting.

Looking back at the tutorial, I don't know if I got the right barb fittings or not.

I got a 1/8" x 1/4" one (I assume for the "1/4 ID hose barb 1/8" thread" fitting)

I also got a 1/4" x 3/8" one (I assume for the "3/8 ID hose barb 1/4" thread" fitting)

Quickdrive, any word?

It's a bit of a hike for you, but I was in Ellicott city yesterday at the local Pep Boys and saw the largest supply of fittings and elbows for use in this project. I'll take a look this coming weekend and see if the required parts for this mod are available there.

Yea, Ellicot city is a ways to go. I'll try the Pep-toys or the larger Home Depot up on Shady Grove road by the best Buy.

But I did get the mug! It's red and fast. I should put a sticker on it too and add 10hp.

I was thinking about blue just because it would be stealthy. But red is faster. I can always return it if I decide to get the blue one. Or I can paint it with flat black BBQ paint.

It doesn't matter the thread fitting sizes since you'll basically be gluing them into holes you make. As long as you have 1/4" and 3/8" ID barbs you'll be set.

Boostjunkie -

This is the cup you want. I just walked outside, and aside from freezing my ass off, the cup looks to be long enough. We will need a peice of vaccum hose to replace one of the hoses (I'll get a picture in a few seconds).

It should bolt right up.

Edit: Ok, no, I won't get a picture underhood, it's to dark out and my cellphone doesn't have a flash.

I need to go to the Home Depot tomorrow to see if I can get a metal elbow so I can use JB Weld on the whole thing instead of epoxy.

I also need a vaccum hose to replace that one section. I'll just get a silicon hose kit tomorrow at pep-toys and replace all of the hoses. I hope they have black

A pep-boys, 2 Advance Auto's, 2 Home Depot's, a Lowes, and a Target. No one had the elbow that I needed.

Boostjunkie - You want to get together this weekend and figure all of this stuff out?

I also traded in the red cup and got a black one (all of the blue ones were dented). The red was just to much bling, so it had to go.

Hi everyone,

I've finally registered (but not new to this forum) and though I may as well give you guys some input on what I know.

Anyway, my car has very minimal modifications, but I have found the removal of the snorkus and the intake resonator to be a big help the engine's breathing capacity and response. You will immediately notice a crisper throttle, induction noise and if you're running the standard BOV, you will finally hear the BOV at work!

I reckon these modifications will help free up the intake, and will nearly be as good as a POD filter.

Plastic ought to be okay. It's not exposed to super-high temperatures. I wouldn't expect this kind of homebrew setup to be "set it and forget it" anyway; every few thousand miles (every oil change maybe) I'd take a look to make sure it's holding together right even if it's stainless steel.

If plastic is good enough for stock, it should be good enough for aftermarket.

I will be using a stainless steel mug, but that's because it seems to be the right size. I need to hack it apart and double check though.

Well, plastic isn't just plastic. There are gazillions of types of plastic with different formulations for different applications. This particular piece is exposed to the elements and a lot of heat cycling, as well as vibration, gasoline fumes, and a tiny bit of blowby.

I don't know; the question's been asked before in another thread you could search for.

But this piece goes between the MAF sensor and the compressor inlet, and is insulated from the heat of the compressor housing by rubber and air.

Dohh, you are right. If anything it is COLDER than the rest of the components because of the amount of air passing through!
