New style WRX gearbox

Post by Mark Ward »

Interesting posts on RSLiberty bbs:

2 RS owners in Australia have now bolted on 2000 up gearboxes into their Legacys. They used both the rear diff and transmission. They said they bolt up with no problems, just 2 holes on the tranny not used!

Don't know if I read it here or over on nasioc but there is a post that all 90 and up Subaru manual transmissions will bolt up to any EJ classified motor, such as our EJ22's and 22T's, EJ25, EJ...you get the point. The newest manual trans are 6-bolts (6 bolts connecting the trans and engine), while ours are 4-bolts. Like Mark said, if you use the newer trannys all you will have are 2 bolt holes not use, not a problem here. This is all of course with matching differential ratios. Now if the new Sti 6 speeds will bolt up to, and fit under, our carsssssssssssssssss, sorry just dreaming about the posibilities of a built turbocharged 3.3 out of an SVX with the new 6 speed behind it CRAMMED under the hood, droooooooool.
