Yep, that'll cover the 93. Then mine will round out all 4 years.
I'm on the trail to the Boostjunkie Legacy (pun fully intended).
There should be a plethora of fast Legacys for you to ride and reminisce in, Jason.

I have driven a Celica GT at work, and I do really like the way the cockpit is laid out, it does indeed feel much more driver-oriented. Plus, it feels lower than the Legacy, of course your Legacy was already low Jason
I drove a Matrix XRS with the 6-speed and 180-hp GTS engine. It is indeed a very peaky engine, but enjoyable at that. While I have all kinds of love for the Subaru torque curve, I still have that longing desire to leave an engine in its higher limits where all the power is. I personally feel that my Legacy runs out of breath past 5500. That's when the VVTi wakes up
Anyway, the driver makes the car, not the other way around. So Jason, your Celica is still cool to me
, coz it has a knowledgeable and appreciative driver.

Well, I'm looking to be as knowledgeable with this Celica as I was with the Legacy. But that takes time, and a LOT of wrench work with it!!
I'm already planning a custom intake based on the stocker. Utilizing some of the stuff I've been reading from 21st Century Performance. The first mod was to get rid of the butterfly in the air box (the engine doesn't have a conventional resonator, but a butterfly valve that varies the opening to the airbox via vaccum pressure).
Next comes the routing of another tube from the bottom of the airbox down to the front of the car, similar to the aftermarket versions, but with some provisions for water drainage. I'll be damned if I put on an aftermarket intake without proper engine management! LOL! waste of money!
Finally, I'll be installing a pressure differential switch between the outside of the intake box and the inside of the intake box after the filter. This will be wired into the annoying "beep" when the car's in reverse (that I plan to disconnect this weekend). The beep will sound when the filter has a pressure drop of 2 inches of water differential! Of course, there will be a switch wired in to turn off the beeping once I know that the filter's dirty enough.
I guess that's the DIY in me from working on the legacy:)

Hmm, that last thing sounds interesting.
You should do a write-up for it!
Your new car beeps in reverse? That would piss me off. How did the previous owner deal with it for 4 years!?

My sister's Outback did that - someone installed one of those retarded beeping back up lights. Her special friend replaced it for her as she couldn't stand it.

It's a safety issue because the gears are so close together. I guess some people wouldn't realize that it was in reverse when they were trying to put it in first. The beeping is the same beep that you'd hear when you'd leave the key in the ignition and open the door. ANNOYING!BAC5.2 wrote:Hmm, that last thing sounds interesting.

I'll do a writeup when I get the thing set up. Does anyone know of a good cheap pressure switch?

I'm sure it's just a safety measure used by Toyota to prevent lawsuits.Legacy777 wrote:people are farkin stupid.......again....we need to let darwinism do away with these people.....not protect them from their own stupidity.boostjunkie wrote: It's a safety issue because the gears are so close together. Dumbowner - I am going to sue you for damages since I thought the car was in 1st but it was actually in reverse and I hit another car.
Toyota - You didn't hear that ANNOYING beep? You've got no case! LOL!

Yea, VW has the best method for reverse by far.
I prefer having Reverse on the far side rather than the driver side. You could just gate it out of 4th like our cars (and all 5-speeds) do with Reverse off of 5th gear.

Saab also has the pull ring. My Legacy always gives me attitude going n reverse, so I suppose that's a good safety, too.
St least they standardized the shift pattern pretty well - some cars had dog leg 1sts and center clutches.

Hahaha, sweet, that's nice to hear.Matt - After McDonalds that Friday, Matt-2 and Roman were both wide eyed and slack-jawed. Roman now knows the potential of the cars after riding in Jason's 91 and your 92.

I'm keepin' it real for you Jason.
