my mother's buying the L from me, so I still get to see her everyday. :)

First mod will be new brakes. That was the only fault with the car, it needs new front brakes(pads and rotors) which leads me to my first question... WIth my $200 tax return, plus perhaps a little more money, what should I get brake-wise? What rotors(Slotted, cross-drilled, should I get them cryotreated?), and pads(ebc?) etc...

following that, the first mod will be paying the car off, and then comes the awic, boost gauge/controller, and new exhaust piping. In the meantime, i'll be keeping my eyes open for a silver turbo bumper, or an aftermarket to have painted, as the current one's f-ed up. :)

Way to go Laurel. Last month I saw a post somewhere from a guy who had picked up an EJ22T swap for $550 from a yard in Colorado. I thought, of sh1t, Laurel didn't get her swap. Glad to see there are bigger and better things on the horizon.
BTW,
I have a brand new turbo XS high performance MBC that is just sitting here. They retail for like $120, but I got it for super cheap. Shoot me a PM with an offer if you can't wait to turn it up. And then you can say, "this one goes to 11" ;)

NICE!

For brakes, OEM rotors are better than most aftermarket rotors I've been presented with. No one makes the 10.4 rears for our car.

www.buybrakes.com for rotors. Just about $50 per corner.

Pads, I've heard nothing but negatives about EBC, so I'd steer clear. Carbotech Bobcat's are a WRX favorite, but at $100 for 2, they are steep in price. They also will wear out pretty quickly.

good snatch, could I suugest a pair of wrx front calipers and rotors? Though you'd need 16" rims for that.

What are the problems with the EBCs? I've had no issues at all with hard street driving in all conditions. No noise, less dust than cheap pads, much better cold bite, better bite under normal conditions, and better resistance to fade than regular junk. Still most people do recommend other performance pads and I'd get a different brand next time as they'd probably be cheaper and I'd like to compare anyway.

I highly recommend cryo treated rotors - they more than pay for themselves if you're hard on your brakes not to mention less aggravation of changing them and having pedal pulsing (that isn't caused by ABS of course). They even seemed to rust much slower than non-cryo rotors.

Just what I read. The horror stories certaintly dont instill confidence in them.

I don't think I'll try them.

 Yeah, that's actually the best place in my whole apt complex to park. That POS truck NEVER moves, and no one else can park next to you and ding your doors. (I always park that way too in order to keep from opening a door into that raised walkway for the little storage closets. . . when not parking in my garage two doors down, that is.) :P

I'll let Laurel tell you more about the car from her perspective. . . all I will say at this point is. . .

It was a steal, it's in EXCELLENT shape overall, the interior is damn near flawless, and she looks VERY CUTE driving it.
