wrx heads+turbo legacy block= what compression ratio?

I am presently building that setup .. (well, with Legacy TT heads in fact.. but it's almost the same)
WRX heads on ej22t block gives about 7.3:1 CR wich is quite low.
I have some custom pistons being fabricated now at CP Pistons to raise that to 8:1 . You might want to use that "recipe" too
and while you are there.. forged + lightened rods ?

what year are the heads you have morgie? i assume you have the twin turbo intake? would the twin turbo intake and heads work well if it was converted to single turbo and say bolted onto a 2.2t block? i was talkin with my dad and he said the wiring for the wrx intake would be to much and we just happen to have a jdm twin turbo engine lying around. i am planning on having internals made but i will probably run it with the low compression for a while since i have little $$ for stuff.

i'll do it quick since i'm short in time :
The WRX intake dont bolt on the legacy heads. The heads i have are from 97-98 since they are "bucket and shim" type. I dont have the original Intake, but i have an intake from a 96 WRX that will bolt on. I'll simply block the holes on the driver side head and use it on a single turbo setup . The heads fits well onm the ej22t block.

why spend money on new rods. The stock ones, like the crank are already forged. Just get them cleaned up and cyro treated and call it done. That's what I am doing. And you can get pistons from Axis if you don't want to wait for a custom job to get done...

I wondered who did Axis' pistons. As for the rods, how far do you want to rev? Guys are revving to 7500-8000 rpms on stock rods. For me, I am going to save that money. But then I am doing a wussy build and only using a vf-29...

well, stock rods might be hard, but surely not as hard and light than custom forged ones. I want to rev around 7500rpm.
The engine is all torn appart now. I'm installing forged pistons, so why not change the rods in the same place and have a complete peace of mind of having a block capable of handling crazy hp. With stock rods you will always have the fear as "will it handle it ? am i pushing to hard?"
But, it's true that for a 300hp setup, there is no need for all that. Also depends on what use you'll do with the car. My car will be abused a lot.. a lot of racing.. so i want it to be as hard and endurant as possible.

reviving a million year old thread
Has anyone tried just using the 2.2l NA head gaskets, I know they're thinner, but I dont know by how much or how much that will affect the CR....AND anyone from this thread have results from their build? Dyno runs? butt dyno.
I am going to go ej22t from my 93 tleg, 02 wrx heads, and for now, just run the 2.2 computer and a Emanage on the wrx intake and injectors. Oh yeah, vf22 and FMIC in the summer, wrx TMIC in the winter. I know I can get it to work, but I am concerned about the low CR. NOTE, this is a budget build for now and when I feel like dropping a couple K I will go standalone OR get a stock wrx computer and wiring harness. I am getting all the sensors and everything off the intake with the heads for cheap (blew a timing belt and bent a couple valves)
also have tubular header, 3" SS turbo back, wrx tranny, act clutch and R180 rear diff (02 jdm sti) and wrx 4pot/2pots. I have some brembos from V7 sti but I've decided to go 4pot/2pot so I can run 15 inch wheels... Eventual goal is 400 HP but I think 300 is more reasonable with the electronics I am going to run for now.
