Help Me before it gets out of Hand!
All my driving life I've been forced to drive slow Subaru's. Starting with my 1st, a 1600cc 1979 DL Wagon. Would top out at 75 redlining at 4k in 4th gear. 9 subaru's later and i now find myself with a EJ22T. Not only my 1st EJ, but my 1st turbo at that. Along with the 5spd and 2.2 i find myself driving faster and faster.
Sometime's its intentional and I know it (when the Honda's or Eclipse's are out). But othertimes its not. Like the otherday when I caught myself in 4th gear on a highway on-ramp, aproaching 90 before I was even on the highway.
Maybe its because ive been playing alot more GT3 (and even more GT4 whenever it comes out). How is it you guys cope with all this Horsepower, without the ability to use it all? My other Subaru is a 1984 Wagon with a 3" lift, 1800cc and 4spd Dual Range Transmission. I have to use every bit of that 74hp whenever i want to go anywhere. But I have yet to push the limits of the EJ22T, and cant wait until I have an opportunity to. Just hope it doesnt cost me another $300 ticket.

I've coped with it by paying 400 bucks total for speeding. I very rarely go 5mph over and that's usually when I'm not paying attention. Yes my car isnt' turbo'd but as you know I can keep up with ya pretty close
As bad as it might sound I think you just need to get a couple more tickets and you'll start slowing down
Another thing to do is just think about why you're driving so fast in the first place. If you can't think of a good enough reason you should slow down. That seems to work for me.

That has worked for me Hardy (Thinking of why im speeding).
Another thing that doesnt help, is that my Speedo is in KM's. Miles are there, but alot smaller. Ive figured out that 120km is aprox 73mph, so that keeps me safe. But just feels alot more comfortable when im cruising at 80-85.

I've found that since I put the ej20t in my car I've gone from being reserved when driving on the roads to being a bit of a nutter! Like the thing just wants to rev and rev and rev and rev.. so I naturally let it.. and well.. with the mo-boost factor and the fact that the thing makes it's power at 6400 RPM, it's hard not to wind the thing out. Like you look away from the speedo and let your mind wonder on the highway and next time you look down you're doing 80+ mph, around 150+ km/h, which is 50 over the limit.. and at 45 you could face jail time up here
I'm starting to slow down a little though.. it's just so nice to have a motor that makes power.. and lots of it. My ej22t was getting really tired and not much fun to drive towards the end.. so this new motor is like bringing the whole car back to life again 
Anyway.. I'm sure once I loose my licence I'll have pleanty of buyers on this forum

I went from my 93 Ranger to my 95 N/A and to adjust to the speed, I just... did nothing... I just kept tabs on my speed on main roads and let it rip on the back roads. I sped smartly and usually just set the cruise control along with traffic.
I don't have a speeding problem, I just like to be at the front of a pack (I don't like to follow).
I usually DO speed to get to the speed limit when I am feeling... fun.

i almost always speed up to the speed limt as quick as i can most times(there is no law i know of that says you can't). Also i am lucky that i live in an area with lots of back roads that untill recently i never had to worry about speed traps on most of them. I have yet to get a speeding ticket (knocking very hard on my wood desk!!!). The best advice is to get the engine power and urge you desire on take offs and then go 5 over or get a good radar detector.

I don't abuse my car by trying to get to the limit as fast as possible. I abuse my car by accelerating briskly in gear then relaxing on the shifts. Backroads, well, they are a different story. I have recently found myself heel-toeing through the turns around my house in the truck. It's getting ridiculous how badly I want to drive my 94

i don't abuse mine by getting up to speed it is a 1990 N/A and a subaru. I did burn out my clutch once by backing up a muddy bank to show some jeeps that my subaru could do it going in reverse and a month later i had to put in a new clutch but i learned my lesson. I agree it is not great for the car but if you are a decent driver and take care of the all the maintence. Plus if i do blow it up then i just have an excuse to get a more powerful setup.
Around me i have about every type of road available from dirt to interstate, curves out the ying yang to straight, and hilly to flat. My favorate place to drive is a nice curvey gravel road where i went fishing while in college it had a sweet banked turn into another turn ooooooo i loved driving on that road.

I too have never had a vehicle that could accelerate fast enough to get myself in trouble.
But there are many a times when I find myself doubling the speed limit on the 60km/h zone 4 lane in city highways around town.
As well as flooring it to 80kmh and then laying off.
I try to put around, but the car is much more fun to drive at high rpms.
I'll get a ticket eventually to smack the senses out of me, or into me for that matter.

Move to a large Metropolitan area like Toronto, and you will be able to speed without any problems.
As long as you can keep up with traffic, or it is a very busy highway, you can go as fast as you like.
People regularly go 150-160Kmh on the 401, our main highway.
Police are ineffective here, and you can go as fast as you dare on most roads.

Seriously, mine has only failed me twice, and only one of those got me a ticket.
It's harder to use on a road you don't know, but I frequently tear-ass through some of the fun roads I do know very well. Just on the east side of Orlando, we have a city called Winter Park. One of the sayings floating around here is "it's better to speed in Ohio than it is in Winter Park"
. Their police are vicious, most of my friends have fallen victim. Me, on the other hand, I'm usually haulin through the place and the times when I'm going slow, I can see the cop peeking out up ahead, coz I know where they sit.

I agree, know them before they know you. I susualy slow down whenever I see an american beam pattern in my rear view. Then I try to see what kind of car it is. If I can tell it's a smaller economy I just go leasurly. If It looks bigger I slow donw a lil more. till i can fully recognize. I'm also very wary of any crown vic with limo tint in the rear. those are usually undercover. White isn't the only color either. I saw two blue crown vics leaving the station on garfield right across from where kmart used to be, next to the alpha zone, you know where I'm talkin bout? Anyway, just be wary of american cars. I've seen a few in malibu's so there's no telling nowadays.

I've seen the following used by The Man when he's out keepin' us down: Chevy Blazer, Caprice, Corvette, Nissan Maxima (~1998), Ford Mustang, Crown Vic, Explorer, Expedition. I've also heard they use a drug-seizure F-150 Lightning around here for unmarked harassments.

Its also good to have someone in front of you - I love the people who go faster than me. I just latch on a half-dozen car lengths back and let them run the gauntlet.

It is tough to stay slow, especially when your car just wants to go. It is even harder after playing racing games. I find that I tend to drive faster after playing NFSU or GT3 or whatever. I had been playing a ralley game for a while and was cruising through the mountains to go see a friend and that's when I got my first ticket (in my GL-10 none the less).

I got semi pulled over doing 60 in a 35 and didnt get shit

When I was in my crx, the only time I got pulled over, I recieved a ticket. It's not about boobs, its about how much trouble they think you're going to get into. A girl in a station wagon, not likely, a teenager in a lowered honda with wheels and a bodykit, streetracing.
