does anyone know where i can get a metal cover for the bumper for my car because the muffler people said it close to my bumper and might melt it and i dont want that to happen lol

Home depot. Buy some sheet aluminum. I don't think you have anything to worry about, but that's just me.

I'm not so sure about that. If it's a big single tip, I've seen quite a few WRX's with melted bumpers.

Wouldn't it be better to use a material that wasn't as conductive as aluminum? Even galvanized steel seems like it'd be better.

Probably. I don't have any direct experience, but I know Gary Sheehan does with his USTCC WRX. They had issues with the melting bumper on their car. You may want to get in touch with them/him.

My muffler is really close too.... I think I bent something when I was offroading and tried to go up a hill. The hill was so steep that my back end hit the ground as i was going up. My friend did it in his GL-10, so I figured I could too, but my car was longer than the the GL-10.

Anyways, I haven't done anything about it yet... No melting, no fire.... I should probably still do something about it though :oops:

Yeah....metal seems like it would get just as hot as the exhaust and wouldn't be of much use.....but that's just my reasoning...

I think it depends on the metal. I'd consider galvanized steel... stainless would probably be great. Metal does have great ability to handle heat.

What if you sandwiched some fiberglass mat between a piece of alloy and the bumper?
