They know a good car when they see one!

This is for non-Subaru related topics. Keep it realistic please.

They know a good car when they see one!

Post by petridish38 »

Went to the local hazardous waste collection center to drop off some oil and stuff...

When I pulled up, one of them said "Look! Its a classic Subaru!"

They said it looked like it was driven by an old lady because it was in such good shape, and they asked me what I did to keep it that way... I just told them wash and wax and take care of the engine...

There were like 4 people circling my car looking at it! 8)

Most people who work at those places drive their big V8 trucks and dont even know the difference between a Subaru and a Honda, but it looks like these guys know a good car when they see one!

It almost makes all the work and money I put into that 14 year old 180,000 mile beast worthwhile!

Cool Andrew! Yeah, it does feel good when someone notices how much work we put into our cars!

I cannot take my XT to the Subaru dealer, I get asked all about it 8)

That's cool.

I find it kind of funny that they called it a "classic Subaru" though. That makes it sound antique, which is completely untrue, since the BC/BF Legacy is more or less the same as the cars Subaru manufactures today.

I might call an XT or a B.R.A.T. a classic Subaru. :)

That's great, It's nice when we get some recognition.

I agree with Vikash, when I think classic Subaru I'm thinking DL, GL-10, BRAT, ect..

People would try to buy my truck off of me at the gas station, on the street, parking my car, all the stinkin time. One time a big diesel dump truck rolled by and was all like #*&%... I said 'what'? and then he turned off the engine and we had a normal conversation (if trying to just take someones beloved truck is normal...) and he said he would always look for a 'for sale' sign in the window

I've noticed the BRAT's are getting appreciated now. They have a good reputation and I think they fall under retro cool. I just hope that extends to the 83-84 hardtops so there'll be one for me some day.

Went to the dealer yesterday to get a part and came out to find 3 sales guys checking out my car. They were all wondering if it was 'one of those old turbo models from 1989'. I told them it will be as soon as I can put my engine in. Then after talking about the Liberty RS thinking they knew more than they did it turns out they were talking about the XT and mentioned how cool those were.
