Production Numbers

Just curious if there actually ARE known quantities of different trim levels of legacys made. Kinda wondering how rare the LE touring wagon really is.

I went to go insure it yesterday and my insurance agent could find a GT but not this. They had to go in a back room and look through some old, dusty book in order to pull my car up. Edmunds has the wrong information on it, it doesnt exist on our computer systems at work, and I'm assuming it when I go to get estimates on my bumper replacement, it's not going to appear there either.

i havent found anything in my searches, just wondering if anyone had actual, concrete data. I think i'm gonna go to subaru today and get to the bottom of this.

I theoretically could have the first touring wagon ever made. jan 92.... Does anyone have any idea even close to how many were manufactured in 1992?

soa says 12 wagons and sedans alike, so if you wanna believe that (even though theres more than 12 members on the board with 92 turbo cars, not to mention how many others there are) go right ahead.

The Touring Wagon was a limited edition for 92, and didn't go into being a real, full model until 93. Any real 92 would be very uncommon.

I seriously don't think SOA knows how many Touring Wagons were made, because their numbers are just ridiculously low.

I'm going by the parts dept today to see how much a replacement remote would be, I'll see if the manager(he's my buddy) will know who to contact, or sites to check out.

What's your production number?

My car is #22 for 94, so very well could be the 22nd Turbo made or the first turbo made with 21 N/A's made before it.

Remember, the cars were made the year before the model year. The model year 1992 really started 4th quarter, 1991. You can buy 2005 STi's right now on the west coast.

I did a search on carfax (the free VIN look up).

I just pasted my VIN and went from 00001 to 00021 to see if there were any turbos before me. #17 has only 3 records, so I think it's wrecked (as your average 1994 should have around 8 records for a 1 owner vehicle). #03 has no records, so I think it was either never sold, or was pre-production 94 and used for something else.

So as far as that search goes, I have the first 1994 Subaru Legacy Turbo to still be on the road. Only 2 were made before me.

Isn't there a checksum digit in the VIN? How did you handle that?

I didn't account for the check digit because I don't care THAT much.

I just ran my VIN and changed the production code. So there are 2 turbo's before mine that have the same Check digit, and it's safe to assume that neither of them are in existance any longer.
