I was joking around with the manager, and he was looking up where to get remotes, and I asked him for price, saying, "well, if it's gonna be $285 like a cargo cover, i'm not interested" then he said that he may just have one for me... I told him I was broke, and that i'd probably just make a custom one, and he said it'd be free. Told me to pull my car around to the detail shop, and he'd meet me out there. The first thing he said when he saw the car was "you already dropped it?" He autocrosses his miatas, so understands, but thought it was pretty funny. They've got a corner full of cargo covers or something, because he kept going into the corner and pulling out different covers, test fitting them. He finally found one that fit the mounts at the back of the seats, the only catch is that it's dusty, and the pegs that catch on the hooks at the tail gate are about half a centimeter too short, so if i can get a dowel and attach it to them or something, then i've got a cargo cover off of a newer legacy that fits perfectly, and matches the interior.
There was no way to find out the deal with the touring wagons though. I'm considering getting unlimited carfax and starting to just run random vin#'s for all of 92 til I get to the bottom of this. I'm really very curious as to the actual numbers of these cars.
