01 impreza RS seats, better fit than wrx?

Post by czo79 »

Hola...
I'm wondering if maybe a set of 01 impreza rs seats might swap into my 91 turbo and still leave my some headroom. I'd like to do 02 wrx seats, cause they are nicer, and match my rears, but I'm 6'2" and can't deal with a seat higher than stock....
Thanks
Micum

if you set the wrx seat at the bottom, it isnt much higher than the turbo seat set at the middle

I'm 6' and have '98 RS seats in my car. They fit perfectly and don't seem to take away any headroom. When I get around to it, I'm going to try to fit the rails/sliders from my original seats to these seats. We'll see how long that takes though :)

the wrx seats are impossible to do this to. In case anyone was interested. The seat back is attached to the rail assembly. I'm not sure when they made the switch

i looked but cant find any threads pertaining to the rs seats specifically

trying to find out how well the RS seats bolt in to a 92 legacy turbo, can i use the stock rails or do i need the rs rails? cuz i need some new seats like whoa and i found some virtually brand new (2002?) rs seats.

thanks

they need the stock rails for the rs if they're 2002, i think my seats are 03, and it was required. There is one bolt that will not fit, but according to the parts department manager at the local subaru dealership, it's no problem, as there's already 1 bolts in that corner.

nothign is impossible. try fitting your rails eastbay, it'd be neat to see if you can adapt them.

try removing the wrx rails. That will NOT work. If you DO use your stock rails, then you will damage the impreza rails.

... and damaging the wrx rails is expected to get the stock rails to work. Any mount or bracket can always be fabricated.

IIRC, ciper said the rails from the RS seats come off fairly easily and the Legacy rails bolt right up with an additional hole being needed on the Legacy side of things. Like I said, if I get motivated at some point I'll try it. Regardless, the RS seats definitely bolt right in and work well.

WRX 03 SEATS IN 93 LEGACY

Post by BATTLEWAGON »

I picked these up off of ebay, $250 shipped.
They came with the orig rails/sliders and they were a perfect bolt in.
I am 5'10 and I have pently of head room, no sunroof though.
Absolutly the best money I have spent on the car to date!
I love this car! I had a VR-4 modded to 430hp befor this, and I have to say this subaru is every bit as fun to drive. my leg is N/A 5sp and when i keep the revs around 4k it handles better around the twisties, lighter and better geometry than the DSM.
28 yrs old, car is paid for, making $400.00 a month IRA/401K payments!

I'm 6'1, but with the seat all the way up, my head is less than 1" from the roof.

I want to get a set of Sparco Milano's to replace my stock seats. But I don't have $1600, and I don't know if the Sparco harness bar fits in the Legacy. Then there is that issue of rolling over.

Phil. . . I'm sure a Sparco or Speedware harness bar could be fit to a Legacy with very little difficulty. If the width between the B-pillars is the same, I think you're set. Far as the rollover goes. . . just don't wear 4-point harness unless you're tracking the car. Even then, if I were to track my car in such a way that rollover was even a remote possibility, I think I'd be looking into a bolt-in rollbar for the backseat area, instead. In that case, you'd probably just have to have one custom-welded in. :P

I've got a set of stock rails if someone wants them, $10+ shipping, I'm keeping the seats from my 91(velour's more comfortable than the turbo fabric) and making chairs out of them.
