My custom IC pipe.
I went to my buddies shop today (www.AgileAuto.com) to see about getting a custom pipe done up.
I called mineke first to see what they would charge. They didn't want anything to do with it. Blah blah blah, screw them.
So I made the 45 minute drive up to Agile and talked to Mike about it.
I am having a 2" ID Stainless Steel pipe that is 6.5" long get a 1.5" long bung welded to it at a 45 degree angle. Then he is sand blasting the whole thing so it's uniform and looks stock. Total cost is $40, which is almost exclucively labor (sand blasting and TIG welding and the like).
I got me the Pep-Boys radiator hose (PN E 70664) to replace the post turbo bend, and I got a Samco style hose (just a generic connector hose. I think the guy jacked it from an AEM intake for me. Real cool about it. I told him what I was doing, and he said it sounded awesome and that I HAVE to drop by with the car) from a local shop for $5. I made the IC to TB adapter (the $5 hose I got was 2.75" ID which is find for the TB, but not the IC, so I got a plumbing adapter with a 2" ID and cut a flange off of it and clamped my hose around that). Everything is ready for my new bunged pipe.
When it's done it'll look 100% Factory Legit, aside from the reddish orange IC to TB pipe.
I also painted my coffee mug flat-black with Hi-Temp Exhaust Manifold paint ("Keep it fast, and keep it flat black") and smoothed out the epoxy.
Underhood, you'd never know anything was amiss. And aside from the clear tube running around my engine bay (for my cheap ass boost gauge), you'd NEVER know that the car wasn't stock under there. It's just THAT good.
I am very pleased with the way it has turned out so far. The car is turning into exactly what I wanted out of it. It'll be even closer to what I want when I can finally sell my bike and get it on the damn road... And so I can get my CES Exhaust, which will be sweet, and I have been dreaming of since I heard Matt's car.
Just thought I would keep you guys updated though.

Where exactly did you use the radiator hose?
Pic?
This is for a Saab 900 i/c, right?
I was wondering, as I was going to be installing one of these later this month. I was going to try to find a radiator hose that would go from the turbo to the i/c inlet.
I already have a blue generic Samco style hose from a V6 Mustang CAI that will work b/w the TB and the i/c.

The radiator hose is used on the turbo outlet towards the IC. It makes the proper bend that the stock peice does, and doesn't require the scavenging of the stock peice, so you can always revert to stock if necessary.
I got a samco style hose from a local speed shop that had one lying around. Cost me 5 bucks.
I still havent gotten the pipe made yet. The shop that was going to do it, didn't. So I have to find another source.

What does the coffee mug do/where does it go?
I have seen mention of it before, but I couldn't find anything about it with a search, though.

Thanks for the link.
Where is the thread where he explained how to do it?
edit: thanks for the how-to link. I will probably try this soon.

No problem IronMonkey.
Phil- Not yet but I do still plan on doing it. The to-do list just seems to be slowly growing the more things I do that are on it. It's crazy, ya know?

I got my pipe made today at a local shop. $20.
It's kinda rough, so I will be making it look better with some JB-Weld and sanding the exterior (there are some over-weld spots of metal) and then coating it in high-temp paint.
Does anyone know of a way to smooth the inside of the pipe? The shop drilled the hole, then stuck the bung (a 2" long peice of steel pipe from Home Depot, cost was under $1.00) into the hole and welded it in, so there is a 1/8" lip inside the pipe).
Anyone got any info about that?
Thanks!

It's in the middle of a 6.5" long pipe. I'll just make due I guess.
What size pipe did you guys use? This is a 2" OD pipe.

Hmm, well then, mine is a wee bit small. Damnit. It's smaller than the IC inlet, but about the same diameter as the turbo outlet.
Think I'll be alright, or should I get another one made?
