How much can you shave NA Heads?

Post by douglas vincent »

Subject line pretty much says it all. If you look at the head, there is a set amount you can shave off. How much have you shaved?

The factory service manual says to measure warping of the cylinder head with a straight edge and a thickness gauge, and if it exceeds 0.05mm, to regrind the surface with a surface grinder.

Then it has these three numbers:

Warping limit: 0.05mm (0.0020 in)
Grinding limit: 0.1mm (0.004 in)
Standard height of cylinder head: 98.3 mm (3.870 in)
