Anyone else have this problem?

Driving lately, I've noticed something.

This car just wants to accelerate fast. Even while granny shifting, the car just wants to go. Barely any throttle (I'm trying to stay off boost) and shifting at the 10's (roughly 3k), it still just wants to MOVE. I have to conciously monitor my speed or I'll be rollin and not even notice. 60mph feels like 30. I can't go any faster than 70 really though, as my clutch starts to slip when I try to put down any power.

I am getting shitty gas mileage though. 3/4 of the gauge gone and 170 miles on the clock. I've driven a lot in the past 2 days

I get the "woah, did you really just shift around that turn?"

This car was BUILT to heel-toe through the turns. I don't think I've ever been faster through some sections of my commute. If only my brakes were more confidence inspiring...

People are always giving me shit because I always talk about Subaru. This is why - these cars are awesome and those other people just don't know any better.

I always liked sporty smaller cars from when my parents had a Ford Capri, so at least I grew a fondness for small cars. I still remember riding in it when I was not quite two years old and birds hit the windshield. I told my mother "oops, the birdies are dead". I never likes Subarus, though as I felt they were ugly, slow, and my friend's mother had one that I always got sick in. I had to buy my first Subaru as it was the only thing cheap that I could get in a hurry. That car completely won me over (and everyone else who was familiar with it) and I've been hooked ever since. They've earned my appreciation while others have lost it.

Yep, this is my second Subaru and won't be my last.

My mom had a 92 Touring Wagon (almost exactly like Laurels in every way). Someone T-Boned us on the way to one of my soccer games. The woman that hit us was in a Maxima and was taken away in a neck brace and a stretcher. My mom and I walked away without a scratch. Smashed us right on the B pillar too, drivers side (I was in the back seat behind my mom). It also pulled my dad's caddilac out of the snow on more than one occasion.

I've been hooked since then. I've had 3 cars, and 2 of them have been Subaru's.

Maximas until the recent one have not been as safe in testing as they look like they'd be. Subaru has always done well for safety. Check the old Legacys against a contemporary Maxima.

I was in a dealer a few years back and a woman there was buying a new Legacy or Forester for her daughter. A drunk going the wrong way down the highway hit her head on in an older Legacy and she walked away without a scratch. Unfortunately, the loser drunk spun off the Subaru and hit a family in an Escort. They all died. Don't remember if the drunk lived, but I hope he did and has to think about in prison for years. I saw the accident in the paper a few days before I ran into that woman and was pissed, but proud of the Subaru. That car saved that girl's life and you can't ask that from most people.
